Hockey WA COVID-19 Update - 26/04/21

Published Mon 26 Apr 2021

The Hockey WA office will remain closed from 12:01am Tuesday 27 April, to 12:01am Saturday 1 May, with staff to work from home and remain contactable as per normal working hours, based on the State Government’s Perth metropolitan and Peel region post-lockdown transition period.

The postponement of Hockey activities will be lifted from midnight tonight, and in line with easing restrictions, training can resume tomorrow with match fixtures resuming this week pending further advice from the State Government.

Perth Hockey Stadium will remain open, but strictly only for those attending games and training sessions scheduled at the venue during this period – Perth Hockey Stadium amenities such as the bar will remain closed, with only the Perth Hockey Stadium pitch to be accessible.

Physical meetings scheduled at Perth Hockey Stadium during this period are to be replaced by online meetings, with attendees to be notified of the new circumstances by relevant Hockey WA staff.

Due to the State Government’s current restrictions for games and training sessions scheduled during this period in the Perth metropolitan and Peel regions, no spectators will be allowed regardless of venue – Hockey WA advises its clubs, associations and stakeholders that only players, select coaching staff and officials are to be in attendance at games; a limit of 2 coaching staff per team applies.

Hockey WA understands that a round of fixtures has been missed due to the State Government’s lockdown period – we are working on the implications of this and a decision will be communicated to clubs, associations and stakeholders in due course.

As part of the post-lockdown transition period for Perth and Peel, Hockey WA requests all stakeholders follow the public health requirements, including the following measures:

  • Wearing a mask when in public, unless exempt or while participating in vigorous outdoor exercise (such as hockey training and matches held outdoors).
  • Hockey WA advises clubs, associations and stakeholders, that only players and umpires are exempt from wearing a mask during matches, however they must wear them at all other times.
  • Coaches must wear a mask at all times.
  • Wearing a mask both before and after training/matches.
  • Wearing a mask indoors at all times.
  • Strictly no sharing of water bottles and food at any time.
  • Protocols regarding the use/sanitisation of playing equipment such as PC Face Masks, will be determined by Hockey WA in due course and communicated to clubs and associations.
  • Limiting the number of people indoors at any one time – the 1 person per 4sqm rule applies, with a maximum of 20 people allowed at any indoor venue/facility.
  • Following all other hygiene requirements, including washing hands and using alcohol-based hand sanitiser.
  • Maintaining social distancing of 1.5m at all times.
  • Downloading and using the SafeWA App and signing in at all venues.
  • If you are unwell or have any symptoms, stay home and get tested.

Hockey WA strongly advises all clubs, associations, players and other stakeholders to diligently follow Government requirements, particularly those clubs and associations with Clubhouses and/or training/playing facilities that had planned activities during this period.

Hockey WA thanks its players, supporters, staff and partners for their understanding in this fast-evolving situation.
