Kiwis to hit suburban grounds

Fans of high-level hockey in suburban Perth will be given a rare opportunity when the Vantage Black Sticks, New Zealand’s national hockey side, will train at High Velocity Ducting Stadium in Southern River on Saturday 19 June, ahead of their FIH Pro League fixtures against the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras.

The training session will commence from 3:00pm at the Southern River ground, with all welcome to come along and see the Olympic-bound hockey sides train in preparation for the games in Tokyo.

Fans are advised to not enter the field whilst the teams train but select players will become available after the training has concluded to conduct a signing session for fans.

Southern River Hockey Club will also be holding an event at the club from 7:00pm on Saturday 19 June, with live music and activities on offer – tickets on sale here.

The Vantage Black Sticks will train again on Sunday 20 June at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University’s second pitch following the conclusion of the CBH Group Women’s Country Championships, with attendees to the event welcome to stay at the grounds to view the session.

While in Perth, the Vantage Black Sticks will face the Perth Thundersticks in a feast of high-level matches, with the fixtures at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University free to attend. More information here.
