We’re excited to announce a unique opportunity for women aged 20–25 to represent Western Australia on an international hockey tour to Japan. 

This marks the first WA team tour to Japan since the early 2000s, and we’ve been invited to take part in a Tri-Series event featuring matches against Japanese National League teams, including Yamanashi Gakuin University and the Coca-Cola Red Sparks.

The tour will include:

• Six competitive matches against elite Japanese teams
• Shared training sessions with local clubs and universities
• Cultural and culinary experiences that showcase the best of Japan
• Sightseeing opportunities in one of the world’s most vibrant and historic countries

This is more than just a hockey tour. It’s a chance to grow as an athlete, connect with international peers, and experience Japan through the lens of sport and culture.

We are now seeking expressions of interest from athletes who are keen to be part of this exciting experience. If you’re ready to challenge yourself, represent WA, and explore the world through hockey, we’d love to hear from you.

Proposed Dates

Monday 23^rd February to Friday 6^th March 2026 (Subject to change by a day or so)

Please complete the EOI form by 1^st November 2025 to allow for best flight costs, accommodation rates and team confirmation for uniform extras

Costs

• Estimated cost for selected athletes: $5000.00, covering airfare, accommodation, insurance, administration, and off-field support.
• Successful athletes will be invoiced in two separate invoices. by our Finance department. If you cannot pay this tour by the due date, you will need to discuss payment options with our Finance department. 
• Selected athletes will be responsible to apply for Visa, if required. Info sent to you once your place is confirmed. 

• Uniforms will be supplied by Hockey WA and returned post tour. Tour Shirt, Walkout shorts and Tour Jacket will be provided, as part of the cost. 
• The off-field support team will comprise a Head Coach and an Assistant Coach/Team Manager/Hockey WA Staff Member and Physio.

Selection Criteria- Players

• Open to athletes aged 21 to 25 years. 
• Must have been selected for an Under 18 Gold team, an Under 21 squad (30) in recent years, or are currently Womens Premier League 1. 
  No under age athetes are permitted on this tour. 
• Hockey WA will select athletes deemed competitive against international teams.
• Final team selection is at the discretion of the coaches and Hockey WA, WAIS and Hockey Australia Technical leads

Note: 
There will be no trials; selection is based on past National Age performances.
Once you have expresed your interest, final team confirmation will be secured and then a  deposit will need to be paid to Hockey WA.
An invoive will be sent and we will require to get that paid within a week to ensure we get the same price of airfares. 

Travel Requirements

A valid Australian passport with six months validity is mandatory for international travel during the tour dates.
