Geraldton claims top CBH Group Men's Country Championships title

The CBH Group Men's Country Championships has reached a thrilling conclusion for another year, with Geraldton Hockey Association the big winners at this years tournament at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University.

In the Division One Grand Final, Geraldton faced Lower Great Southern, who came in as the underdogs after finishing last place heading in to the finals, knocking off first placed Eastern Goldfields in an upset to reach the final.

In a nail-biting match that went down to the wire, Geraldton ran away with a 2-1 win to secure the title for 2021 in front of a thrilled Perth Hockey Stadium crowd.

Geraldton's second side suffered a 3-2 defeat to Upper Great Southern in the Second Division's Grand Final.

In the match of the tournament, Upper Great Southern secured the win through a goal from a penalty corner in the final play of the match to sink the hearts of the Geraldton travelling faithful.

Margaret River dominated the Third Division, finishing with a 31 goal to four goal-difference heading in to the finals; the side secured their Grand Final win in a strong 3-0 performance over Esperance

Eastern Districts dominated in the Masters Division Grand Final, defeating Bunbury 4-1 and completing an undefeated run for the tournament.

Upper Great Southern showed the region's strength in hockey, by winning the Singapore cup for the best performing region with two or more sides.
