Arrival

Athletes are required to arrive 30 minutes prior to the start time of the trial to sign in, receive the bib they have been assigned and complete a full physical warm up prior to the start of the trials. Sign-in tables will be as you walk in the front entrance of Perth Hockey Stadium and will be attended by Hockey WA staff. Athletes are required to bring hockey equipment including stick, mouthguard and shin guards. Hockey WA will provide equipment such as balls to be used throughout the trials. Athletes should wear appropriate sporting clothing and a numbered bib will be provided.

Trial Format

Details of what the trials will consist of for each group across Saturday and Sunday can be found HERE.

U21 State Squad athletes will be assisting with the coordination of drills and trial teams throughout the weekend.

Goalkeepers

Goalkeepers will be assessed by a specific goalkeeping selection panel. For the groups participating in gameplay on Fiield 1, goalkeepers will be on a rotation for specific work in the goalkeeping cage when they are not involved in the game being played. For the groups on Field 2, skill drills inclusive of goalkeepers will be run.

Selection Process

All athletes are invited to the trials on both Saturday and Sunday. Following these trials, squads will be reduced to approximately 60 per gender, who will be invited through to the next round of trials on Sunday 4 February.

Following the trial on Sunday 4 February, squads will again be reduced to approximately 35-40. These squads will then complete a two-week training block before a Gold and Black team are selected for each gender on Monday, 19 February.
