The KMSB Youth International Gryphon Cup is set to take place at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University from Thursday 20 November to Sunday 23 November, giving younger players the opportunity to experience hockey at an international level.

Running as part of Hockey WA's Asian Engagement program, the KMSB Youth International Gryphon Cup is an under-16 tournament for boys and girls played over four days, offering a high level of elite youth competition.

The tournament is uniquely positioned as Asia's pre-eminent tournament for youth players to compete, improve and meet fellow aspirant hockey lovers from across the globe.

In the years that the tournament has taken place, it has attracted national, state and academy representative teams from within Australia, as well as from Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and Korea.

Tournament Details

Matches will consist of four 10-minute quarters, with two-minute breaks at quarter time & three-quarter time, as well as a five-minute break for half time.

Each team will play six (6) pool matches with results counting towards the Semi Final & Cross Over match rankings.

Semi Final matches will be contested by the top two teams from each pool, while Cross Over matches will feature the remaining teams.

The results of the Semi Finals will determine the teams in the Medal Matches, while the results of the Cross Over Matches will determine the Play-Off match-ups.

If Semi Finals & Cross Over Matches end in a draw, a shootout will take place to determine a winner. If Play-Off Matches end in a draw, the Teams will share the final ranking.

Hockey WA can confirm that: 

  • All matches at Perth Hockey Stadium (Pitch 1 and 2) will be streamed on the Live Hockey WA platform.
  • Viewers will be required to purchase a Tournament Pass to watch streamed matches - $11 each (GST inclusive)
  • For those that have already purchased a Live Hockey Season Pass, all matches can be viewed without purchasing a Tournament Pass
  • Tournament passes are not yet available to purchase, but will be live in the coming days. Please keep an eye on the Hockey WA website and social media channels for more information.
