WA State Under-21 Men's team to prepare in Busselton

As the 2024 Hockey Australia Under-21s Championships draws closer, the WA State Under-21 Men’s team is set to venture down south as part of their preparations.
The squad, who will be looking to pull off a national championship three-peat in 2024, will be travelling to Busselton for a two-day regional camp this weekend.
The camp will kick off with the Under-21 Men’s squad hosting a Junior Clinic with local hockey players aged between 12 and 18 at Busselton Hockey Stadium from 9.00am to 10.30am on Saturday 24 February.
Following the clinic, the squad will engage in two matches against a WA Regional Invitational XI squad to work on gameplay ahead of the National Championships in Newcastle.
Those matches will take place on Saturday 24 February at 5.00pm, and Sunday 25 February at 10.00am.
Local coaches have been invited to observe the matches, as well as the squad’s pre- and post-match briefs as an interest and development opportunity.
WA Under-21 Men’s Head Coach Tim Geers said the team is “eager to head to the regions once again” leading into this year’s national championship tournament.
“This camp provides us valuable gameplay and an opportunity to continue developing relationships within our group, which is always a priority for us,” he said.
“It also allows us the chance to give something back to regional hockey in WA – a number of our State team athletes have come from the regions and it’s just one small way our group can help continue that legacy.
“We’d really like to thank the Busselton hockey community for hosting us and we hope this contributes to what is hopefully a successful tournament next month.”
The 2024 Hockey Australia Under-21 National Championships will take place in Newcastle, NSW from Wednesday March 13 to Wednesday March 20.
