Eligibility

Perth Based Players

Only players who have attended a Perth Thundersticks Academy at either one of the North or South Hubs in 2024 are eligible to apply. This includes athletes in the Emerging Thundersticks Program.

Players can register for upcoming Academy Programs in order to nominate, but may only be eligible to trial if they attend any program prior to the trials.  If a player has not attended any 2025 program, the registration fee will be returned and removed from nomination list. We have clinics in July for U14 and U16's that are available for you to join, if you have not participated in one so far, a week before the trials. See our Events page on our website to register for one of those to become eligible to participate in trials.

Regional Based Players Regional players are welcome to trial for these Perth-based teams. However, there will be separate trials held for those whose primary residence sits within regional WA, for 2 x separate Regional Representative teams (1 x Boys, 1 x Girls). This will occur later in the year, around September/October.
WA U16 Team Players All Under 16 State Team players do not need to nominate, as they will compete in their WA State teams. Under 16 State Players from regional areas will be given the opportunity to play for the Regional team and will be automatic selection in, if they choose to play. There is, however, no obligation for you  to do so. You may play with your current State team. This will be your choice.
U16 STate team members  from 2025 are ineligible to play for the KMSB Waves Teams.
WA Under 16 Train On Athletes If you were selected as a train on athlete in one of the WA State teams, you will be elevated into the WA State teams, should state teams be unavailable for selection. This will be positional based and the decision is at the descretion of Hockey WA Performance staff.
If there is not spot available, you will be able to trial for the KMSB or Regional Teams. Hockey WA recommends Train ons to register for the KMSB until numbers are sorted. Should you be selected into the KMSB team and a state team member is unable to participate through injury, you will be given a choice to play for either team.
