A session designed to support umpires in understanding the fundamental concepts of umpiring and building confidence on the field.

Umpire Coaching – Saturday 30 May to Monday 1 June 2026

Umpire coaching will be available throughout the Bunbury Junior Carnival, delivered by Hockey WA’s Premier 1 Panel Umpires.

This opportunity is open to all umpires — whether you are looking for a bit of guidance, wanting to build confidence, or aiming to refine and develop your skills.

Hockey WA will have a number of Umpire Coaches on site who can provide support during your games.

Coaching will focus on practical, in-game skills, including:

• Applying the rules of hockey
• Using the whistle effectively
• Using clear and correct signals
• Managing and responding to dangerous play
• Communicating with your co-umpire
• Receiving and using feedback from coaches and senior umpires
