Registrations for Hockey WA U16 State Team trials are now open for players wishing to be considered for the 2027 State Under 16 Girls or Boys teams.

HWA will be selecting two teams for each gender to travel to the Hockey Australia U16 National Championship held from April 6-13 in Newcastle, NSW. Teams will be travelling 4th-14th April which crosses over with the last week of Term 1. If selected, players will be required to obtain the written approval from their school principal to attend.

To be age eligible for the 2027 State Under 16 competition a player must be born on/after 01/01/2011.

Trial Details:

Stage 1 Saturday November 21 and Sunday November 22. All athletes to attend both days of stage 1. After this stage a selection of identified players will be invited to the second weekend.

Stage 2 Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th Dec - Invitation only. 

Goalkeepers will be required to attend Saturday November 21 from 3pm and Sunday 22nd from 7am for GK specific assessment.

Announcements of each stage will be posted on the HWA website by COB on the Wednesday following each stage. Please note, that as per our Selection Policy, no individual feedback is provided for stage 1.

Nominations for trials close 5pm Wednesday 18th November. Confirmation of your registration and trial details will be emailed to you no later than 5pm Thursday 19th November.
