2026 Fuel to Go & Play Junior Club Championships 10-12 wrap

The future of WA hockey was on full display as the 2026 Fuel to Go & Play Junior Club Championships came to an exciting close.

Teams from across the state gathered at Perth Hockey Stadium for a fortnight of high-quality junior hockey, with the Junior 10-12 age groups bringing the tournament to a fitting conclusion.

The Boys J10-12 competition kicked off the action, running from Monday 13 July to Wednesday 15 July, before the Girls J10-12 tournament took centre stage from Wednesday 15 July to Friday 17 July, showcasing the state’s emerging talent and delivering plenty of memorable moments on the field.

JUNIOR 10-12 BOYS

Thirteen teams competed in the Boys competition, battling through pool matches on the opening day before being split into two divisions based on their results.

Geraldton 1 edged out Victoria Park 1 in a thrilling Division 1 Final, claiming the title after prevailing 4-3 in a shootout after playing out a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Geraldton 1 made a strong start in Pool B, recording two wins, one draw and one loss to qualify for Division 1. They carried that form into the division rounds, matching their pool-stage record to secure a place in the Final.

Victoria Park 1 dominated Pool A, winning all four of their matches to qualify for Division 1. They continued their impressive form with two wins, one draw and one loss in the division rounds to earn their spot in the championship decider.

The Division 2 Final was just as tightly contested, with Eastern Goldfields overcoming Victoria Park 2 after a scoreless draw, winning 3-2 in a shootout.

Eastern Goldfields faced a tough Pool B campaign, finishing with one win, one draw and two losses to qualify for Division 2. They then hit their stride in the division rounds, recording three consecutive victories in the round-robin format to book their place in the Final.

Victoria Park 2 finished the pool stage with three draws and one loss in Pool B before also finding form in Division 2 with three round-robin wins securing their place in the Final.

JUNIOR 10-12 GIRLS

The Girls competition featured 14 teams, which competed through the pool stage before being separated into two divisions based on their results.

Victoria Park 1 completed an outstanding tournament campaign to claim the Division 1 title, defeating Eastern Goldfields 3-1 in the Final.

Victoria Park 1 were dominant from the outset, winning all of their Pool A matches to comfortably secure a place in Division 1. They continued that strong form in the division rounds, winning three matches and drawing 0-0 with Eastern Goldfields to advance to the Final.

Eastern Goldfields earned their Division 1 berth after finishing Pool B with two wins, one draw and one loss. They then produced an impressive run in the division rounds, recording three victories and a draw against Victoria Park 1 to secure their place in the championship match.

The Division 2 Final provided plenty of excitement, with Fremantle Cockburn overcoming a determined Busselton side thanks to a penalty corner goal after the final siren to claim the title.

Fremantle Cockburn qualified for Division 2 after recording two draws and two losses in Pool B. They found their best form in the division rounds, winning all four of their matches to book a place in the Final.

Busselton were competitive throughout the tournament, finishing the pool stage with one win, one draw and two losses to progress to Division 2. They then dominated the round-robin phase, winning all four matches to secure a spot in the Final, where they pushed Fremantle Cockburn all the way in a hard-fought contest.
