CBH Group Country Championships returns for blockbuster 2026 tournaments
Published Mon 15 Jun 2026

The incredible talent of regional hockey players from across Western Australia will once again be on show as the CBH Group Country Championships return in 2026.
Across two action-packed weekends, teams from every corner of the state will converge on Perth, all vying for the coveted title of regional champions in one of WA’s premier hockey events.
Held at Perth Hockey Stadium and Fletcher Park, the Championships are a true celebration of country hockey – showcasing the skill, passion, and strong community spirit that define the game across regional WA.
This year’s event will feature 73 teams, with hundreds of players, coaches, officials, and supporters set to be part of this proud and long-standing tradition.
The Championships also play a crucial role in the pathway to higher honours, serving as a key selection event for players aiming to represent WA at the 2026 Hockey Australia Country Championships in Bendigo, Victoria this August.
The competition gets underway with the Women’s Country Championships from Friday 19 June to Sunday 21 June, followed by the Men’s Country Championships from Friday 26 June to Sunday 28 June.
Ahead of the opening weekend, regional umpires will also have the opportunity to fine-tune their preparation at an Umpire Briefing on Thursday 18 June.
For those unable to attend, every match at Perth Hockey Stadium will be streamed LIVE via LiveHockey WA, thanks to Sportway. Fans can catch all the action with a Tournament Pass for $11 (GST inclusive). Season Pass holders will be able to watch every match at no additional cost.
Women’s Country Championship Preview
The 2026 Women’s Country Championships are set to deliver another thrilling showcase of regional hockey, with 47 teams competing across five Open divisions and two Masters divisions – up from 44 teams in 2025. With new associations entering the competition, returning contenders building momentum, and reigning champions defending their crowns, this year’s tournament shapes as one of the most competitive yet.
Division One
While reduced to four teams, Division One remains elite. Bunbury & Districts Hockey Association leads the field as back-to-back defending champions, chasing a remarkable three-peat. Esperance returns after a runner up finish in 2025, determined to go one better, while Lower Great Southern (third) and Geraldton (fourth) round out a high-quality, tightly contested division.
Division Two
A dynamic mix of proven performers and new challengers headline Division Two. Eastern Districts enters as defending champions, with strong competition expected from Busselton, returning after their 2024 title win, and Upper Great Southern, a new addition for 2026. Central Great Southern will also be looking to improve on last year’s fifth-place finish.
Division Three
Now expanding to eight teams, Division Three shapes as one of the most competitive and unpredictable divisions in 2026. Roe Districts returns as defending champions, but will face strong pressure from Mortlock (2025 runners-up) and Ongerup (third), alongside East Avon, who finished fourth last year. A strong influx of new teams – including Central Midlands Coastal, Central Midlands, and Central Wheatbelt – adds fresh depth, while Geraldton returns to the mix, setting the stage for a wide-open contest.
Division Four
Division Four grows to eight teams and presents a balanced mix of established contenders and emerging sides. Central Midlands, last year’s runners-up, and Ravensthorpe (third) headline the returning challengers, while new entrants Collie, Peel, East Avon, and the Pilbara Krocs bolster the field. With North Midlands and Warren also returning, this division promises a tightly fought competition with plenty of new storylines.
Division Five
The largest expansion comes in Division Five, increasing to 10 teams and creating an exciting, high-volume competition. Ongerup returns as defending champions, with Mortlock (third) and East Avon (fourth) among the key contenders. A significant number of new additions – including Avon, Bunbury, Central Midlands Coastal, and Upper Great Southern – add fresh intrigue, while returning teams look to climb the standings in what shapes as a deep and competitive division.
Masters Division One
Masters Division One remains steady with eight teams, featuring a strong, experienced field. Geraldton enters as defending champions, with Peel (2025 runners-up) and Bunbury (fourth) among the leading challengers. Esperance and Busselton add further experience, while Central Great Southern joins the division in 2026, bringing fresh energy to an already competitive group. Expect a closely contested race for the title.
Masters Division Two
Masters Division Two continues to grow, expanding to six teams and introducing several new contenders. Avon, last year’s runners-up, and Geraldton will look to build on their 2025 performances, while Lower Great Southern returns after previously winning the division title in 2024. New additions North Midlands, Roe Districts, and Warren round out a refreshed and unpredictable field, setting up an exciting and open competition.
With growing participation, fresh talent, and fierce competition across every division, the 2026 CBH Group Women’s Country Championships promises a standout tournament filled with intensity, opportunity, and regional pride.
Men’s Country Championship Preview
The 2026 Men’s Country Championships will see 26 teams compete across four Open divisions and two Masters divisions, setting the stage for a highly competitive tournament showcasing the strength of regional hockey across Western Australia.
With a mix of defending champions, returning contenders, and new entrants, this year’s competition promises intensity, fresh match-ups, and plenty of standout performances.
Divisions One & Two (Combined Pool)
In 2026, Divisions One and Two will combine for the round robin stage, creating a unique and highly competitive format featuring six teams.
Division One is headlined by Bunbury & Districts Hockey Association, who enter as defending champions and are chasing an incredible fifth consecutive title. They will be challenged by Upper Great Southern (third in 2025) and Lower Great Southern, returning to the top division after last competing in 2024.
Division Two adds further depth, with Geraldton (fourth last year) and Roe Districts (third) both pushing for a breakthrough, while Eastern Goldfields joins the competition as a new entrant for 2026.
With all six teams competing together, expect tight contests and a fiercely fought battle for finals positioning.
Division Three
Reduced to six teams but still rich in quality, Division Three is set for another strong campaign. Pilbara Krocs return as defending champions and will be aiming for a three-peat, establishing themselves as the team to beat.
Challengers include Miling (third in 2025) and Esperance (fourth), while Central Great Southern and Eastern Districts will be looking to climb the standings. Upper Great Southern also joins the division, adding further competition after their 2024 campaign.
With a balanced field, Division Three shapes as a tightly contested race.
Division Four
Newly introduced in 2026, Division Four provides an exciting opportunity for developing and returning teams. The four-team competition features Busselton, Eastern Goldfields, Geraldton, and Roe Districts.
As a fresh division, it brings a clean slate, with all teams eager to establish themselves and set the benchmark in this new tier of competition.
Masters Division One
Masters Division One returns with six teams and a strong, experienced field. Geraldton enters as defending champions, while Bunbury (2025 runners-up) and Lower Great Southern (third) headline the chasing pack.
Eastern Goldfields, Esperance, and Eastern Districts – new to the division this year – round out a competitive group, where experience and structure will be key in determining the eventual champion.
Masters Division Two
Masters Division Two features four teams in 2026, with a mix of returning sides and new contenders. Central Great Southern (third last year) and WA Country will be looking to improve, while new additions Margaret River and Upper Great Southern – the latter previously a Masters champion in 2024 – add fresh intrigue.
With a smaller field, every match will carry significant weight, setting up a tightly contested competition.
With regional pride on the line and pathways to higher honours at stake, the 2026 Men’s Country Championships promises a compelling blend of established excellence and emerging talent across every division.
