Coach n Play presentations sees stars present to members across the state
Published Mon 25 Oct 2021
Hockey WA’s Performance and Development Team have delivered a range of presentations for coach & player development throughout our club network.
Presentations have been delivered in Narrogin and Geraldton in our regions and OGMHC, Hale HC, Wesley South Perth HC, Whitfords HC and Melville HC for our Perth metro members. Further presentations will be conducted during the 2022 preseason to ensure all of the WA hockey network has had the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful resource.
Terry Walsh delivered information on how HWA members could access WA Coach n Play and how to navigate through the resource video library of drills and information. We encourage all HWA members to log on and have a look at how it can best support your hockey journey. It is extremely special for HWA members to have the opportunity to learn from one of our WA hockey legends!
Des King delivered a presentation on the Tokyo Olympic Highlights and Trends. This was created for coach and player development and inspiration for all in the WA network. This presentation is now available for all HWA members to watch on the new Hockey WA Coaching Hub. The log in process is the same as for WA Coach n Play and can be found on the Hockey WA website here.
One of the highlights of the presentations was having WA’s own Rechelle Hawkes give us an insight into the Tokyo Olympics and her incredible Olympic journey, winning three gold medals at three different Olympics; one of only two Australian women in history to have achieved this along with Dawn Fraser! Rechelle is also one of only three Hockey Australia Hall of Fame legends and the large crowd at Melville were in awe to hear of her Olympic experiences and have the chance to hold her gold medals.
Special thanks also to Tokyo Olympians Georgia Wilson and Josh Beltz for making time to inspire and educate all who attended the presentations at OGMHC and Hale HC respectively. Having just returned from Tokyo it was special to hear their views on an Olympics like no other.
Hockey WA General Manager of Talent Development & Asian Engagement, Dean Evans, shared his delight on Hockey WA's ability to enhance the member experience across the state.
"Hockey WA has invested considerable time and effort in the development of these world-class resources for the benefit of all our members within the community - at all levels in their hockey journey." Evans says.
"We are committed to enhancing the member experience and development opportunities across the entire WA hockey network. This ongoing engagement program will help to inspire, educate and motivite our next crop of WA hockey champions."
