Competitive Indoor competition inspires eye-catching results
Published Fri 26 Nov 2021
Hockey WA’s high-level indoor season for 2021 has continued in red-hot fashion, with sides continuing to provide exciting matchups and results in a season filled with stars on the court.
Melville (Maroon) continues to lead in the men’s Division 1 competition off the back of the 2021 All Flags Premier League title form, sitting clear at the top of the standings on 12 points, with Fremantle Cockburn in second on nine.
Melville defeated UWA (Green) 8-2 in a strong performance in round 4, while Fremantle Cockburn, featuring Hockeyroo Kaitlin Knobbs and former Kookaburra Tim Deavin, continues to sit hot on their tail after a 4-2 win over Melville (White).
Melville (White) sits in third on the table on equal points with Reds; Reds’ star-studded line-up includes the likes of Blake Govers, Jack Hayes and Aaron Kleinschmidt, who will look to re-capture their 2020 Premier League title-winning form on the court.
The Suburban Lions side, led by Hockeyroo Amy Lawton, continues to dominate in the women’s Division 1 and sits at the top of the standings after round 5, while coming off a dominant 9-0 victory over YMCC.
Melville continues to perform well across the board, with Melville (Maroon) sitting in second in the women’s Division 1, just three points shy of the Lions.
A narrow 3-4 loss to Melville (Maroon) for UWA now sees North Coast Raiders sit on equal points (10) to UWA after a strong 7-5 win for the Raiders over Fremantle Cockburn (White).
In the U18 leagues, WASPs leads the boys competition with four wins from four matches, while in the girls, Reds leads the way, also on an unbeaten streak after four matches.
WASPs also leads the U15 boys competition, while Melville continues to impress across all competitions, with Melville (White) leading the U15 girls and Melville (Boys) leading the U13s competition.
