This weekend’s round of Premier League action has been highlighted by an offensive masterclass from UWA women’s and Hockeyroos’ Courtney Schonell, with five goals for the UWA star leading her side to a 7-1 victory over Reds.

Schonell scored the first five goals of the match for UWA, all unanswered by Reds, up to three-quarter-time.

Reds’ Kim Leiper replied after the five-goal haul in the 47th minute, with UWA’s Prada Herron and Neasa Flynn adding to the tally in the 50th and 54th minutes respectively.

In the men’s match between the UWA and Reds sides, Reds have continued their hot form, narrowly claiming a 3-2 win over UWA.

Reds’ Chaz Davies, Brodee Foster and Marcus Di Filippo all hit the scoreboard with three unanswered goals to take a 3-0 lead over UWA into the final quarter.

Late in the last quarter, UWA’s Harry Golding and Lachlan Busiko gave life to UWA, finding goal in the 53rd and 57th minutes, but Reds held strong until the final buzzer to claim the three points.

With no scores up to half time, YMCC eventually found goal in the 33rd minute through Jesse Regan.

Victoria Park’s Hayden Vaitekenas responded with a goal for his side in the 42nd minute to bring life to the match and put YMCC on the back foot.

Joel Rintala’s goal in the 45th minute for YMCC secured the win for his side and the equal-top position in a strong fight at the top end of the men’s standings.

Hale have solidified their spot at the top of the women’s standings, claiming a strong 6-0 victory over Melville.

Line Malan and Edwina Bone bookended the score line, with two goals apiece at the start and finish of the match, whilst Hale’s Michaela Spano and Tyler Pedley also hit the score board.
