Elite-level spectacle set for Classic finals day

Published Fri 01 Apr 2022

The 2022 Ric Charlesworth Classic finals day is set to provide an intense, high level hockey spectacle when the competition reaches its climax on Saturday 2 April at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University, with WA hockey’s best fighting for medals and bragging rights.

The competition, which pits WA’s best emerging and established hockey talent against each other, is nearing a thrilling finale, with a blockbuster fixture featuring four games and all eight teams across the men’s and women’s competition – the Breakers, Highlanders, Outbacks and Suns.

The Highlanders, who are yet to win a title in both the men’s and women’s competitions, are looking to complete a double gold coup, with both the men’s and women’s sides reaching the gold medal match.

The Highlanders face a formidable breakers outfit in the women’s, who are yet to lose a game in this year’s competition, while in the men’s, they will face off against the Outbacks, who are looking to go one better than last year after a narrow defeat in the 2021 gold medal match.

The 2022 Ric Charlesworth Classic finals day is set to provide a fun-filled hockey spectacle for families, hockey and sports fans alike.

Entry to the Ric Charlesworth Classic finals day is $5 – kids under 18 free.
