Emerging Thundersticks Program 2025: Training Opportunities for Aspiring Hockey Stars

Hockey WA is excited to announce the upcoming training sessions as part of its Emerging Thundersticks Program (ETP) for Under-18, Under-16 and Under-14 athletes.

This program is designed to nurture young talent and prepare players for state team trials and national championships in 2025.

Whether you're looking to refine your skills, gain high-performance training experience, or represent Western Australia on the national stage, the ETP is your gateway to the next level of hockey excellence.

Under-18 ETP Training

The Under-18 ETP will kick off in late January 2025 with short, intense sessions as part of the season preparations for player in the Under-18 age bracket for the 2025 season.

These sessions will be designed to prepare athletes planning to trial for selection in the 2025 State Under-18 Men's and Women's teams.

The 2025 State Under-18 Men's and Women's team selection trials will begin on the weekend of Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 April at Perth Hockey Stadium.

The 2025 Hockey Australia Under-18 National Championships will be held in Perth from Friday 4 to Sunday 12 July 2025.

The ETP training sessions will run on two consecutive days at Perth Hockey Stadium, simulating what our National Junior Program delivers for our 'futures' athletes across the country.

Under-16 ETP Training Preparation

The 2025 Hockey WA Under-16 Emerging Thundersticks Program will begin in late January and it will be designed for players involved in the upcoming trials for the 2025 WA State Under-16 Boys and Girls teams.

The training sessions are to be held at the Perth Hockey Stadium and will run for four days leading up to the second set of trials taking place on the weekend of Saturday 1 February and Sunday 2 February 2025.

Under-14 ETP Season Preparation Training

The 2025 Under-14 Emerging Thundersticks Program will begin in January for players planning to prepare for the 2025 WA State Under-14 Boys and Girls team selection trials in the winter months of 2025.

These training sessions are open to all players involved in the 2024 WA Under-14 State Team and Squad programs who are wishing to be selected to represent WA at the 2025 Hockey Australia Under-14 National Championships, set to be held in late September/early October 2025 at a venue to be confirmed.

Training sessions will take place over three days at the Perth Hockey Stadium.
