EOI: 2026 Hockey Australia Athlete Host Family Network

Published Thu 06 Nov 2025

Hockey Australia and Hockey WA are currently seeking expressions of interest from prospective Host Families for athletes relocating to Perth in 2026 and beyond.

As part of this transition, members of the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras squads will be relocating to Perth in January 2026. Due to the competition schedule athletes may require short-term accommodation during this period as they settle in and prepare for the upcoming Pro League season starting in February.

Hockey Australia recognises the importance of encouraging and supporting a player’s independence and personal growth. Host Families are an important part of this process.

This includes helping them to adjust to life in Perth while managing the expectations of being an elite athlete, providing them with the necessary life skills to live independently, and supporting them while they adjust to being away from their home comforts.

The three most important indicators of success for host family relationships are:
•    Proximity to training facilities and other athletes
•    A supportive and inclusive environment: providing a balance of an active household and player having their own private space
•    Ability for the athlete to re-enter the home environment smoothly after regular periods of being away

Hosting a Hockey Australia Athlete is a wonderful opportunity to provide a welcoming environment that reflects our values of community, integrity and excellence, while supporting them as they transition to life in Perth and pursue their goals.

Please note all household members aged 18+ may be requested to undergo a WWCC if required.

Previous Host Families have found the experience to be very rewarding. If you are interested in becoming a Host Family and would like to find out more, please complete the online EOI form
