Go Purple for a Purpose: Hockey WA’s Breast Cancer Care Round

Hockey WA, in proud partnership with the Midweek Masters and Breast Cancer Care WA, will once again transform its regular matches from Friday 25 to Wednesday 30 July into a vibrant, community-focused initiative in our Breast Cancer Care Round. 

This heart-warming event is about more than just hockey – it's a show of solidarity and fundraising for those affected by breast cancer in Western Australia. 

To show support for those affected by breast cancer, Hockey WA calls on our membership to raise funds, which will be donated to the Purple Bra Day campaign, Breast Cancer Care WA’s largest annual fundraiser. 

Did you know? 

  • 5 women are diagnosed in WA every day 

  • 1 in 7 women are at risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime 

  • 1 in 556 men are at risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime 

  • Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women in Australia 

  • Breast cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in Australian women 

  • Australia has one of the best breast cancer survival rates in the world 

  • 49% reduction in breast cancer mortality for women who participate in breast cancer screening

  • For 25 years, Breast Cancer Care WA has been a trusted provider of specialist support for thousands of individuals and families affected by breast cancer across Western Australia. 

  • Last year, we provided tailored specialist support to over 1,900 individuals and their 

  • We are deeply grateful to the Western Australian community for your ongoing generosity, which enables Breast Cancer Care WA to continue delivering exceptional, free-of-charge care across the state 

  • Currently operate without government funding, relying solely on the generosity of the Western Australian community to sustain our essential services 

How you can support: 

  1. Attend a game from Friday 25 to Wednesday 30 July – show up in purple, donate and cheer on the players! 

  1. Donate online – donate to the Purple Bra Campaign here. 

  1. Run fundraisers – Clubs, teams and players are encouraged to organise raffles, bake sales, fundraisers and showcase their community spirit!
