2022 Hockey WA Pride EventWe are SO excited to present our Pride Event this weekend, in partnership with the Perth Pythons Hockey Club, Hockey Australia and Westside Wolves Hockey Club, THIS SUNDAY at Lemnos Field! 🏳️🌈 Make sure to get involved, with a Come & Try Hockey Clinic, appearances from Hockeyroos and Kookaburras, community and Pride stalls, as well as a HEAP of fun and games for everyone - kicking off from 12pm! There'll also be a HUGE Premier League double-header between the men's and women's Westside Wolves Hockey Club and WASP HC sides. Hockey WA, in partnership with Hockey Australia, Westside Wolves and Perth Pythons, will run an inclusive “Come and Try Hockey” day on Sunday 12 June – headlined by two crucial Premier League fixtures, appearances from some of Australia’s best players and a range of action, entertainment and fun for the whole family.
The Come and Try Hockey event, run for the Pride Community of Perth as well everyone with an interest in the sport, will feature appearances from the Australian Hockeyroos and Kookaburras, bouncy castles, face painting, barbecues, LGBTIQ+community stalls and a range of other attractions to be announced in coming weeks.
“We’re incredibly excited to be running the Come and Try Hockey event with Hockey Australia, Westside Wolves and Perth Pythons at Lemnos Turf in June,” Hockey WA General Manager – Game & Community Development, Shayley McGurk Davy, says.
“The event itself is literally for everyone, reflective of the incredibly inclusive nature of our sport, which provides opportunities for young and old, people of WA Pride Community.
“We can’t wait and we look forward to seeing everyone in person not only for some great fun and games for the whole family, but also some top-level club hockey too.”
President of the Perth Pythons, Reid Smith, says he is thrilled to showcase the inclusiveness of hockey.
“The Pythons are thrilled to see a pride initiated by Hockey WA to promote inclusion and diversity in the sport we love," Smith says.
"We already know hockey is one of the most inclusive sports around and we can’t wait to share that with everyone else.”
COME AND TRY HOCKEY DAY

TIME: 12pm-6:30pm
Premier 1 Fixtures:
3:30pm-Women-Westside Wolves vs WASPs
5:15pm-Men-Westside Wolves vs WASPs
Attractions:
- Hockey games and activities including Dribble and Goal Scoring Races
- Hockey skills run on the half field by Perth Pythons and Hockey WA
- Appearances by the Kookaburras and Hockeyroos
- Fundraising barbecue, run by Perth Pythons and Westside Wolves raising funds for the WA Pride Community, and drink specials (please note cash bar)
- Bouncy castle
- Face painting
- LGBTIQ+ community stalls
