Hockey WA and The West extend partnership
Published Fri 25 Mar 2022
Exciting news hockey fans - Hockey WA and The West have extended their partnership for a further three years.
In 2021, hockey soared to new heights, with weekly coverage in The West newspaper through its regular “Hockey Central” column, covering the sport across the state in depth, in addition to live-streaming of major Hockey WA events including the Ric Charlesworth Classic, CBH Group Country Championships, Bevan George Cup, Kobie McGurk Cup and Future Thundersticks Classic.
In 2022, The West’s hockey content and live-streaming offerings will grow even further, with additional coverage each week during hockey season, content syndication across The West’s state-wide newspaper network and live-streaming being made available completely free through The West’s new platform – streamer.com.au.
“This is a huge partnership for Hockey WA and the sport across Western Australia and we are delighted to see the partnership strengthen and deepen across a further three years,” Hockey WA General Manager Commercial Operations, Marketing and Media, Nicholas Janzen, said.
“We are thrilled to extend the partnership with The West and look to take hockey across the state to more people than ever before.”
The West Australian sports editor Nick Rynne:
“We’re really proud of the relationship we’ve built and continue to build with Hockey WA and all of its associate competitions and can’t wait for the next step on our new Streamer platform,” Mr Rynne said.
“The hockey community has been really engaged and open to innovation in this space and we’re glad to have them along for the ride as we attempt to build a platform that shakes up, empowers and elevates the community sport landscape.”
The extensive live and free coverage of Hockey WA events through streamer.com.au commences this weekend with live streaming of all PHS-1 matches from the Ric Charlesworth Classic, played at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University - 2022 Ric Charlesworth Classic.
