Hockey WA COVID-19 Update I 10 May 2022

The latest Emergency Management Act Directions came into effect at 12.01am, Friday 29 April 2022.
PUBLIC HEALTH SOCIAL MEASURES
- The COVID Transition (Public Health and Social Measures) Direction (No.3) have been revoked.
- Key changes/impacts of this includes:
- The 2sqm rule for all high-risk venues, inclusive of hospitality venues, nightclubs and convention centres or functions centres, is removed.
- Capacity limits for all entertainment venues, stadiums and events (inclusive of major stadiums, cinemas, theatres, stadia etc.) is removed.
- COVID Event Checklists and Plans are no longer required but still encouraged.
FACE MASK REQUIREMENTS
- Asymptomatic close contacts who leave their isolation premises must wear a face masks at all time when away from their isolation premises.
- Normal face mask wearing exceptions apply, e.g. vigorous exercise, safety considerations etc.
CLOSE CONTACT REQUIREMENTS
- Symptomatic close contacts are still required to isolate for 7 days.
- Asymptomatic close contacts may leave the premises at which they are isolating, subject to meeting the following conditions:
- They undertake a daily Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and have obtained a negative result prior to leaving their isolation premises;
- They wear a mask when leaving the isolation premises; and
PROOF OF VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS
- Proof of vaccination no longer required to enter venues or businesses, inclusive of hospitality venues, restaurants, nightclubs, functions centres and major stadiums. This is relevant for some art galleries, museums etc that were required to request proof of vaccination as they managed a café/hospitality area and/or ran events.
- Mandatory workplace vaccination requirements remain, e.g. Group 1 and Group 2 workers.
COMMUNITY SPORT
- Subject to all of the above conditions being adhered to, community sport remains exempt.
(players representing clubs in WA are able to play hockey even if they are an asymptomatic close contact as long as they follow all of the aforementioned obligations)
