Hockey WA Life Member and Award of Merit Induction Ceremony set to honour legends of WA hockey

Hockey WA will once again celebrate the outstanding individuals who have shaped the game in Western Australia at the 2024 Life Member and Award of Merit Induction Ceremony, to be held on Sunday, 2 November 2025 in the Eastman Lounge at Perth Hockey Stadium.

This special occasion honours those whose exceptional service, leadership, and commitment have left a lasting mark on the sport - both on and off the field.

Life Membership

Life Membership is one of the highest honours bestowed by Hockey WA, reserved for individuals who have demonstrated distinguished service to hockey in Western Australia over an extended period. Recipients are those who have gone above and beyond in contributing to the growth, integrity, and success of the game, whether through playing, coaching, officiating, administration, or volunteering.

Award of Merit

The WA Award of Merit recognises individuals who have provided outstanding service to hockey at the association or club level. The Award of Merit is a special award which may be bestowed upon a volunteer whose services to an affiliated club or association is agreed to have been outstanding – i.e. similar services to hockey as Life Membership, however emphasis is given to the person’s contribution to the sport rather than length of service.

Who can I nominate?

Nominations for both honours are accepted year-round. Hockey WA encourages all members, clubs, and associations to consider those who have made exceptional contributions to the game and to submit nominations when inspired. Recognising these individuals not only celebrates their impact but also strengthens the culture of appreciation and service that defines Western Australian hockey.

Historical nominations are relevant – the individual nominated must meet the criteria outlined in the nomination forms.
