Legends line up for historic Masters tournament
Published Thu 07 Oct 2021
The Bevan George and Kobie McGurk Cups are set to sizzle from October 22, with notable hockey legends lining up to compete in the historic tournament at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University.
WA's Masters hockey community is as talent-laden as they come, with ex-Hockeyroos and Kookaburras legends hitting the field regularly, with this tournament no different.
Stars include ex-Kookaburra and 2004 Athens Olympic gold medallist Bevan George and former Hockeyroo and 2006 Commonwealth games gold medallist Kobie McGurk, holding the honour of being recognised through the tournament's name.
Ex-Kookaburra and UWA Hockey legend Trid Woodhouse will hit the field, with Woodhouse playing a key role in the tournament's formation; other Kookaburras include Chris Ciriello, a 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medallist and Grant Schubert, a 2004 Athens Olympics and 2006 Commonwealth Games Gold medallist.
Local club legends will also line-up in the Kobie McGurk Cup, with UWA Hockey legend and former Hockeyroos Shayni Nelson bringing her almost 400 games of All Flags Premier League experience to the table.
Men aged 35-50 can register for the Bevan George Cup and Women aged 30-50 can register for the Kobie McGurk Cup.
