LIVEHockey a landmark occasion for Australian hockey
Published Wed 16 Mar 2022
Hockey in Australia has entered a new dawn with the launch of LIVEHockey – a dedicated home for LIVE streaming of national and state/territory hockey events.
The exciting innovation is the first of its kind for sport in Australia, uniting Hockey Australia and all eight state/territory Member Associations by bringing select hockey tournaments and competitions into one centralised LIVE streaming hub.
Hockey is the first sport to have a truly nationally aligned streaming platform, ranging from local Premier League competitions to state and national tournaments of various age groups.
Western Australian hockey fans will benefit from the new platform, with all Hockey WA-controlled events to be streamed through the platform for free in front of the paywall, providing full free-of-charge access for viewers to all WA content.
Hockey WA CEO Fabian Ross says it's exciting to expand on WA's hockey content, providing new platforms on top of the already existing streaming through Hockey WA Facebook and YouTube.
“Hockey WA is excited about livestreaming more free-to-view men’s and women’s Premier League content, across more platforms, than ever before," Ross says.
"We’re thrilled to be involved in LIVEHockey and taking our competitions to new audiences.”
LIVEHockey will be powered by Cluch, a live and on-demand streaming network dedicated to community sport.
Over 1,000 hours of action from national events will be available in addition to each Member Association’s content from every state and territory in Australia.
“This is a highly significant day and occasion for hockey in Australia, one that everyone who is interested in the sport in this country has reason to be excited about,” said HA CEO David Pryles.
“The launch of LIVEHockey will see more Australian hockey available to watch than ever before.”
“Whether you are a parent or family member of a child participating in a national or state level event, want to watch the best hockey talent from different parts of the country, or simply just love the game, LIVEHockey will have something for everyone.”
“The volume of content and countless hours of viewing with events spread over the entire year and coming from every state and territory in Australia means more hockey to watch more often and all in one place.”
“Significantly, part of the subscription costs from LIVEHockey will be reinvested back into the sport.”
“There has been thorough and positive collaboration with the Member Associations and Cluch to make this a reality. We thank them for their shared vision and passion for growing the sport and enhancing its exposure at multiple levels.”
The new LIVEHockey platform will take browsers to a centralised home page where they can see what is currently LIVE, view upcoming matches and go to each Member Association channel for their respective content.
“From the outset, everyone involved has embraced the potential of a centralised platform that will bring together hockey fans and communities from across Australia and provide a level of insights, value and growth opportunities that have never before been possible,” said Cluch Managing Director, Gus Seebeck.
LIVEHockey will host LIVE streaming of the following Hockey Australia events:
- Australian Under 18 Championships (6-14 April) - Australian Under 15 Championships (7-13 April) - Australian Under 21 Championships (20-27 July) - Australian Country Championships (6-13 August) - Australian Under 13 Carnival (28 Sep - 4 Oct) - Australian Women’s Masters Championships (21 Sep - 1 Oct) - Australian Men’s Masters Championships (24 Sep - 8 Oct)LIVEHockey Hockey WA-controlled content will be free to view.
