Masterful performances kick off legendary tournament
Published Sat 23 Oct 2021
The first round of the Bevan George and Kobie McGurk Cups kicked off in scintillating fashion at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University, with the legends on the field producing some big results for their respective sides.
The women’s Outbacks started off their tournament run with a strong performance over the Highlanders, securing a 3-0 victory.
The match between the women’s Breakers and Suns produced a much different result, with both sides meeting at a 1-1 deadlock when the final buzzer hit.
The men’s Suns and Outbacks were both unable to produce a score during their match, with an entertaining 0-0 scoreline.
Both sides had multiple opportunities in front of goal with the likes of ex-Kookaburra Chris Ciriello playing for the Suns, but ultimately neither side were able to find the back of the net.
In an entertaining goal-fest for fans at Perth Hockey Stadium, the men’s Breakers showed their offensive prowess in a dominant 7-2 win over the Highlanders.
