Despite going down in a nail-biting thriller to the Suns in the final of the Ric Charlesworth Classic, Outbacks player James Collins claims the award for Most Valuable Player in the men's division, after a rock-solid tournament as one of the Outbacks' key pillars in a star-studded line-up.

Speaking on claiming individual success after the disappointment of losing the final, Collins said, "Yeah it's a pretty good feeling knowing that there's a lot of good players that you're competing against and playing with, so it's a credit to my team for playing well and giving me the ball in good places over the field."

Collins shared his delight in partaking in a tournament of such kind around new players, stating, "It's always hard the first couple of games, we were rusty in the first game but it was great to see the boys gel and come together and it was pleasing to see us get a few good perfomances on the board."

Being able to play amongst a group with some young talent was a major benefit to Collins, with the star stating, "Just getting to know some of the younger guys and players that you haven't played with before, you don't really get a heap of opportunities to get to know them so it was a good experience."

The win sees Collins' name etched in history, as the first ever MVP of the Ric Charlesworth Classic men's division, with the hope that his name starts off a long list of names to come.
