Perth Thundersticks Team Selection: Round 3 vs Adelaide Fire
Published Thu 23 Oct 2025
As both Perth Thundersticks squads prepare to face Adelaide Fire this Saturday, the women aim to build on their shootout resilience while the men inject fresh talent in pursuit of their first win of the 2025 season.
Women’s
UPDATE: Saysha Pillay has returned to the lineup ahead of Saturday's match against Adelaide Fire, stepping in for Caitlyn Templeman who has been ruled out due to injury.
After two consecutive shootout heartbreaks, the Perth Thundersticks Women’s team are heading into Adelaide’s State Hockey Centre with renewed focus and determination.
Set to face a refreshed Adelaide Fire outfit on Saturday 25 October, the Thundersticks have made minimal changes to their travelling squad.
One notable inclusion is Hockeyroo Kaitlin Nobbs, who returns to the lineup after being a late withdrawal due to illness in last week’s clash against Canberra Chill.
Nobbs was originally slated to feature in Perth’s first home game of the 2025 season, but her absence saw Bellé Ramshaw step in.
Also making her return to the Thundersticks lineup is Rachel Frusher, who will be running out for the first time since the 2023 season.
The former captain missed the 2024 Hockey One season with pregnancy.
The pair will replace Penny Squibb, who is unavailable, and Saysha Pillay, who has been omitted from the squad for this round.
The Thundersticks will be aiming to extend their undefeated record against the Adelaide Fire and build momentum.
Meanwhile, the Fire come into the match riding high after a thrilling 6-4 victory over Hockey Club Melbourne in their season opener last Friday.
Saturday’s contest may also see the Thundersticks face off against some familiar names, with former teammates Georgina Dowd and Aleisha Power now lining up for the Fire.
Additionally, Britney DeSilva is set to play against her former side for the first time since her 2024 stint at the Furnace.

Men’s
Still in search of their first win of the 2025 season, the Perth Thundersticks Men’s team are turning to fresh faces in hopes of finding a winning formula.
Four debutants will take the field when the Thundersticks face Adelaide Fire on Saturday, 25 October, including rising stars Patrick Andrew and Ian Grobbelaar, who return from a triumphant Sultan of Johor Cup campaign with the Burras.
Representing Australia’s Under-21 side in Malaysia, the duo helped secure the title with an undefeated run, capped off by a 2-1 victory over India in the final—Australia’s first title of the tournament since 2017.
Andrew featured in every match and netted a penalty corner goal in the Burras’ round-robin win over India, while Grobbelaar was a standout with six penalty corner goals across the tournament, including both goals in the final.
Joining them for their Hockey One debuts are Jeremy Mayne, who impressed during the 2025 Stiles Electrical Premier League season with Reds Hockey Club, and Luke Anderson, who will face his former side after spending the 2024 season with Adelaide Fire.
The quartet replaces Ethan Boucher, Harry Golding, Zed Kearnan, and Marshall Puzey, who have been omitted from this week’s lineup.
The Thundersticks will be eager to bounce back from back-to-back losses and maintain their undefeated record against the Fire.
Meanwhile, Adelaide will be looking to recover from a heavy 13-1 defeat at the hands of Hockey Club Melbourne in their season opener.
Adding another layer of intrigue, former Thunderstick Brayden King is expected to line up for the Fire, having made the switch after three seasons in Perth.
