Perth Thundersticks Team Selection: Round 4 vs Melbourne Cobras

Published Thu 29 Oct 2026

The Perth Thundersticks return home this weekend, taking the field at Perth Hockey Stadium for the first time this season against the newly formed Melbourne Cobras. The Women’s side has made two changes to its line-up, while Flynn Ogilvie is once again in contention for a long-awaited Thundersticks debut.

Women’s

As the Perth Thundersticks Women chase a fourth consecutive victory, two changes have been made to the squad for Sunday’s home clash with the Melbourne Cobras.

Lexie Pickering returns to the Hockey One line-up alongside Georgia Hiskins, who is back in the side after missing last week’s win over NSW Pride.

For Pickering, the match marks a welcome return after injury sidelined her for much of the 2026 TeamStar Premier League season with UWA. The dynamic forward brings proven firepower to the Thundersticks attack, having finished as Hockey One’s leading women’s goalscorer in 2024 and played a key role in the club’s back-to-back championship triumphs.

Hiskins returns for her third Hockey One appearance, continuing her development in the Thundersticks defensive unit after impressing in her opening matches.

The duo replaces Bellé Ramshaw and Sophie Nation in the side.

Sunday’s contest presents an intriguing challenge for the Thundersticks against a Melbourne Cobras outfit still establishing its identity in its inaugural Hockey One campaign. The Cobras have already claimed wins over NSW Pride and Canberra Chill this season and pushed Hockey Club Melbourne all the way in a narrow 2-1 defeated last weekend.

The Thundersticks enter the match full of confidence after opening their season with three consecutive away victories over the Tassie Tigers, Hockey Club Melbourne and NSW Pride, and will be eager to continue that momentum in front of their home fans at Perth Hockey Stadium.

Men’s

After breaking through for a memorable 3-1 victory over NSW Pride last weekend, the Perth Thundersticks Men will look to carry that momentum into their first home fixture of the season, with Flynn Ogilvie again named in the squad and in line for his Thundersticks debut.

Ogilvie was set to make his long-awaited return to Hockey One action in Sydney before a late withdrawal ruled him out of the clash. This weekend, the experienced midfielder-forward is poised to pull on the Thundersticks colours for the first time since representing NSW Pride in 2023.

A two-time Hockey One champion, Ogilvie played an integral role in NSW Pride’s title-winning campaigns in 2019 and 2022. The 2022 triumph came against a Thundersticks side featuring current Head Coach Tim Geers, assistant coach Tyler Lovell, and current players James Collins, Brodee Foster, Tom Harvie and Cam Geddes.

Since then, Ogilvie has been a driving force behind UWA’s success in the WA Premier League, helping guide the club to the 2025 premiership. His outstanding season was recognised with the Olympian’s Medal as the competition’s Fairest and Best player.

Ogilvie comes into the side in place of Sam Ashton for Sunday’s clash.

The Thundersticks face an intriguing challenge against the newly formed Melbourne Cobras, who continue to establish themselves in the inaugural Hockey One campaign. While the Cobras are still searching for their first win, they have shown plenty of promise across their opening matches against NSW Pride, Canberra Chill and Hockey Club Melbourne.

Adding further intrigue to the contest is the potential appearance of former Thundersticks goalkeeper Ben Rennie, who is expected to line up for the Cobras against his former side.

Fresh off their breakthrough victory over NSW Pride, the Thundersticks will be eager to continue building their form and secure back-to-back wins in front of a home crowd at Perth Hockey Stadium.
