Perth Thundersticks Team Selection: Round 7 vs NSW Pride
Published Thu 20 Nov 2025
As the 2025 ONE Active Hockey One season reaches its climax, the Perth Thundersticks Men’s and Women’s teams are set for a blockbuster final home fixture against the NSW Pride this Sunday, with the women chasing a Finals berth and the men aiming to finish their campaign on a high.
Men’s
As the 2025 ONE Active Hockey One season nears its conclusion, the Perth Thundersticks Men’s team have made bold changes to their lineup in a bid to finish on a high.
The Thundersticks will take on the NSW Pride in the final home fixture this Sunday, 23 November, with five changes to the squad set to hit the turf at Perth Hockey Stadium.
Hunter Banyard is poised to make his Hockey One debut in front of a home crowd, while Angus Adamson, Zed Kearnan, Jeremy Mayne and Harry Golding return to the lineup.
Banyard joined the Thundersticks this year after serving as a training partner in 2024 and playing a key role in WA’s Under-21 National Championship dynasty from 2022 to 2024.
He also impressed during the 2025 Stiles Electrical Premier League season, guarding the net for Melville City Hockey Club and earning the Fairest & Best Men’s Goalkeeper award.
The incoming quintet replaces Kye Stirrat, Zach Rakkas, Liam Flynn, Christian Starkie, and Ian Grobbelaar.
Grobbelaar is unavailable as he prepares to represent Australia at the FIH Men’s Junior World Cup in Chennai, India, joining teammate Pat Andrew and training partner Matthew Edwards in the Burras squad.
Flynn has been sidelined by injuries sustained in Round Five against the Tassie Tigers, while Stirrat, Rakkas, and Starkie have been omitted.
The last time the Thundersticks faced the Pride, they claimed a 3-1 victory.
This time, with Finals hopes mathematically out of reach, the focus shifts to finishing the season on a strong note.

Women’s
With a chance to secure the final spot in the ONE Active Hockey One Finals amid a fierce battle with Canberra Chill and Tassie Tigers, the Perth Thundersticks Women’s team have opted for stability, making just one change to the squad set to face the undefeated NSW Pride.
Saysha Pillay returns to the Thundersticks lineup in the only adjustment ahead of their last home fixture this Sunday, 23 November.
Pillay replaces Caitlyn Templeman, who is unavailable as she prepares to represent Australia at the FIH Women’s Junior World Cup in Santiago, Chilé.
Templeman joins fellow Thundersticks Summer Greenway and Georgia Hiskins as Western Australia’s representatives in the Jillaroos squad for the Junior World Cup.
The last time the Thundersticks met the NSW Pride, they claimed a 3-1 victory to extend their unbeaten streak.
This time, the stakes are higher, with the Thundersticks locked in a tight race alongside Canberra Chill and Tassie Tigers for the final ticket to the Finals.
While the Thundersticks await Friday’s clash between the Chill and the Tigers, they’ll be banking on the Tigers to keep their Finals hopes alive with a win over the Chill – and backing themselves to topple the Pride to punch their ticket to Melbourne.
