GOLDFIELDS-ESPERANCE
Esperance
Volunteers at the Esperance Hockey Association are making big steps toward growing the game in the region.
As well as calling for players for the 2022 season… the Association has recently developed a 'turf feasibility group' - a sub-committee which is now in charge of exploring new playing surface options in Esperance, through the liasion with the Executive Committee and the Shire of Esperance.
GREAT SOUTHERN
Lower Great Southern – Albany and Surrounds
The Lower Great Southern Hockey Association goalkeeper program is proving to be a success in Albany.
Bonnie Crook has been giving the enthusiastic young goalies the essential tips, tricks and skills to be the best goalies possible.
MID WEST
Geraldton
It's week four of the Summer 7's competition in Geraldton!
On turf one, Green Team will take on the Zooper Doopers, McRutcherrons will play
Tomahawk, and one hour later Hits Different is up against Redbacks.
Turf two will see the battles between Saints and Jedi Council, and as Swannies and Casuals.
SOUTH WEST
Bunbury
The reigning South West Hockey League premiers will look to match one of the Premier League sides at the weekend.
Boyanup Hockey Club will play two matches across Saturday and Sunday against YMCC.
The first match gets underway at 2:30pm Saturday, before an earlier 9:30am start on Sunday.
Busselton
Former Busselton young-gun Ella Du Preez will head into this season with an extra notch of confidence, after receiving one of the South West's most prestigious sport awards.
One of country WA's brightest hockey prospects Du Preez - who plays for Westside Wolves in the Premier League - was named 'Sport Star of the Year' at the South West Academy of Sport awards last month.
The 18-year-old captained the WA Under-18 State Team last year and her already-long list of achievements also includes being invited to train at the West Australian Institute of Sport.
