GOLDFIELDS-ESPERANCE 

Eastern Goldfields – Kalgoorlie

Week three of hockey action in the Goldfields is underway!

Saturday’s the day, with the action getting underway at 1pm. In the A2 Men, A1 Men and A1 Women, CBC will take on Pegasus.

Then, from 5:30 onward in the A2 Men, A1 Men and A1 Women, Mines will play against Norths.

There’s no A2 Women’s games this weekend, instead played two weeks ago in the opening round.

GREAT SOUTHERN

Lower Great Southern – Albany and Surrounds

The Lower Great Southern Hockey Association is calling all locals to come down to the busy bee this weekend!

It will be the last preparations of the ground to ensure the turf is red hot and ready to go for this year’s season.

MID WEST

Geraldton 

Two rising stars from the Mid West have taken off to the big stage, the under-18 and under-15 National Championships.

Caitlin Mundy is in Cairns representing WA at the under-18 level, Alyssa Piper in Newcastle with the under-15’s.

The GHA wishes both girls the very best, and will provide game updates on the Facebook page as they come.

PEEL

Mandurah

The Peel hockey league is underway!

Last weekend’s games began with the ladies, Mandurah and Pinjarra finishing with a level 1-1 scoreline.

Goals came through Zoe Stewart-Yates for Mandurah, and Renae Banyard for Pinjarra.

The Pinjarra men’s side had a dominant 4-0 win over Mandurah.

Dion Davey, Ben Goodall, Lauchlan Dodds and Jason Dodd all scored a goal apiece.

Halls Head had a narrow win over Midcity also in the men, coming down to the wire with a 3-2 scoreline

Jamie Martin, Kane Whiteman and David Ellam scored for Halls Head, while the conversions for Midcity came through Lance Wiggers and Alex Wenn.

In the final ladies game of the day, Halls Head went down 1-0 to Midcity, with Sherri Peck scoring the lone goal of the match.

SOUTH WEST

Bunbury

Boyanup Hockey Club’s Tom Harvie has been named in the 2022 Hockey Australia National Development Squad.

Harvie now finds himself next in line for Kookaburras selection, following in the footsteps of older brother Jake.

The Dardanup product was one of three WA athletes named in the squad, alongside Christian Starkie and Liam Flynn.

It puts the young gun in the box seat to reach his dream of playing in the green and gold at the top level.

Busselton

Two Busso up-and-comers have been named in the School Sport under-16’s state squad for 2022.

 

Issy Duff and Cassidy Nelson were among the 34-strong squad, which is in preparation to travel later this year.
