GOLDFIELDS-ESPERANCE Esperance

Calling all parents!

Those who are looking to have their child participate in the eagerly awaited Bunbury Hockey Carnival this year are reminded to sign them up as soon as possible.

Anyone who has not yet expressed their interest is asked to contact Jen on 0458 124 245, so numbers for accommodation and transport can be locked in.

Kalgoorlie

Bottom side Pegasus forced a nil-all draw in a brave performance against Mines in the Eastern Goldfields Hockey Association’s A1 women’s division at the weekend.

Caitlyn Williams, Emma Storm and Katherine Hope helped salvage a point for Pegasus after three consecutive losses.

Reigning champs CBC prevailed over YMHC 6-2 with Susan Macdonald and Kim Lake scoring two goals apiece.

CBC are two games clear atop the ladder as they hunt another flag.

In men’s A1 action, CBC enjoyed a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the winless YMHC.

Norths, who are on a five-game unbeaten run, remain four points ahead of CBC on top of the ladder heading into week nine.

GREAT SOUTHERN

Lower Great Southern – Albany

North Albany recorded their second win of the season in the Lower Great Southern Hockey Association men’s A-grade competition against Manypeaks on Saturday.

Youngster Jack Carlson was one of the Redbacks’ standouts in the round-three clash, scoring a goal in the 4-2 victory.

Hamish Wilkes, Robert Stan-Bishop and Simon Philpott also got on the scoresheet for the winners, while Andre van Rooyen and Mitch Bradbury scored for Peaks.

In the other men’s A-grade fixture, ladder leaders Spencer Park continued their unbeaten start to the year with a 3-0 win over Vikings.

In women’s top-grade action, Michelle Ericsson netted a brace in North Albany’s thrilling 3-2 win over Mt Barker on Saturday night.

Manypeaks defeated Spencer Park on forfeit.

  SOUTH WEST Margaret River

Hockey lovers in the picturesque Margaret River region have a new date to add to the diaries!

Friday, June 10 2022 will see the official opening of the new training turf, in a first for the Margaret River Hockey Club.

Those who are able to donate items for a raffle are asked to contact admin@margaretriverhockey.org.au.

MID WEST

Geraldton

This weekend, regional hockey fans will get a taste of some of the world’s best hockey stars, when the Mid West Festival of Hockey heads to Geraldton.

Until Sunday, May 22, hockey faithful will experience Premier League action on the brand-new Geraldton Hockey Association turf, as well as clinics for up-and-coming regional stars run by some of the country’s finest.  

The event is all thanks to a strong partnership Hockey WA has built with the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, and through the Country Sport Enrichment Scheme, locals get an insight into the top-notch hockey that takes place week-in, week-out in the big city.
