GOLDFIELDS-ESPERANCE
Kalgoorlie
Pegasus have put on a resilient performance against an undefeated Norths A1 men’s side, keeping them scoreless at the main break.
The ladder-leading side however, proved too strong for Pegasus, emerging with a 3-0 victory.
All three of the winning goals came through Norths skipper Chris Souchon, placing him in the side’s best alongside brother Matt and Tim Bewick.
Mines were put to the paces at the weekend, going down in a definitive 5-1 score line to YMHC.
A hat-trick from Dan Smith saw the effort through, with singles from Bayley Gallagher and James Glasson helping the side to victory.
In the women’s competition, Mines were able to snag a 1-0 win over YMHC, a lone goal from Natasha Hague contributing to the side’s effort.
Among Mines’ best was Emma McFall, Michelle Barnfield and Natasha Caunt, while starring for YMHC was Zoe Nicol, Cassie Nicol and Charlotte Hanekom.
Norths close in on CBC on the standings, just two wins behind following a big win over Pegasus.
Brooke Capewell was the hero for Norths by netting a brace, supported by a goal apiece from Rachel Lamb and Rylee Glasson.
GREAT SOUTHERN
Lower Great Southern – Albany
Spencer Park continues its dominance of the Lower Great Southern Hockey Association men’s A Grade season – adding a fifth consecutive to the tally.
Park was able to defeat North Albany, with Brodie Sarre, Alex Fergie and James Leiper all scoring in the 3-1 triumph, meaning the side remains undefeated for another week.
Manypeaks has had its second win of the men’s A Grade season with a 5-0 drubbing over Vikings.
Mitch Bradbury made the biggest contribution to the match, scoring two goals and assisting in a third, supported by Damen Guest and Chris Metcalfe.
In the women’s A Grade competition, Spencer Park regained its ladder-leading position with a tight 3-2 win over reigning premiers North Albany.
Tessa Wood, Sienna Ball and Georgina Lilford found the back of the net for Park, while the Redbacks scored through Beck Gilmore and Gemma Schoof.
Mount Barker emerged victorious in the other match of the women’s A Grade competition with a 2-1 win under lights on Monday against Manypeaks.
SOUTH WEST
Bunbury
Boyanup continues to be a dominant force in both the men’s and women’s South West Hockey Leagues.
The side remains atop the ladder in both competitions after each side has played each other.
In the men’s competition Boyanup remain undefeated but came close to being knocked off the perch with a narrow 2-1 win over Marist at the weekend.
The women’s competition is a tighter story, Boyanup level on points with Associates, but being separated by a nine-goal surplus in scoring difference.
WHEATBELT
Avon/Northam
Tokyo Olympian Georgia Wilson has visited the Wheatbelt, running multiple junior coaching sessions at the weekend.
Children in school grades three to 12 took part in clinics across the day, with local coaches able to attend to learn some tips, tricks and training drills.
