Stiles Electrical Premier League Round 14 wrap

As the race to the finals heats up, the latest round of the 2025 Stiles Electrical Premier League has produced some unexpected twists.


Men's

Melville 1 def. Fremantle Cockburn 0
James Day celebrated his 150th Premier League match in style, scoring the one goal that separated Melville from Fremantle Cockburn in a thrilling contest under the Friday night lights. Both sides threw everything at each other, but the 22nd minute penalty corner would earn Melville the victory and end the Magpies' long-running undefeated streak.

Victoria Park 4 def. Westside Wolves 0
Victoria Park continued building momentum with another dominant display, defeating Westside Wolves 4-0 at Lemnos Field on Saturday 26 July. While the contest was fairly even throughout the match, the second quarter was where the Panthers shined, with Ky Willott scoring a hat-trick.

North Coast Raiders 3 def. Mods-OGM 1
North Coast Raiders have bounced back from a tough loss against Victoria Park, earning a 3-1 victory over Mods-OGM at Troy Pickard Hockey Centre. Connor Irwin provided highlights during the first half, scoring two goals off penalty corners.

Hale 4 drew Whitford 4
In one of the round's thrilling encounters, Hale and Whitford met each other's match, drawing level at four goals apiece at Hale Hockey Club. Strikers Liam Flynn and Fraser Heigh starred for their respective teams, with both scoring a hat-trick.

YMCC 2 def. WASPS 1
YMCC clinched a crucial win in their bid to achieve a finals berth, coming from behind to edge out WASPS 2-1 at Perth Hockey Stadium. Charlie McIntyre drew the first blood for WASPS during the opening quarter but YMCC would respond with Cooper Burns tying it up in the second quarter and Liam Hart scoring in the third.

Reds 5 def. UWA 2
Reds have continued to build form, earning a 5-2 victory over UWA in front of a home crowd at Aquinas College. Andrew Faulds and Blake Govers were standouts for the home side, scoring two goals each, while Harry Golding would score both of UWA's goals.


Women's

Suburban Lions 7 def. UWA 2
Just a week after pulling off a 7-2 victory over UWA, Suburban Lions have recorded the biggest winning margin of the 2025 season so far, defeating North Coast Raiders 15-0 in a dominant display at Troy Pickard Hockey Centre. Despite the Raiders' efforts to tame the Lions, the visiting side showcased their depth, opening the floodgates with eight players scoring goals. 

Victoria Park 2 def. Westside Wolves 0
Victoria Park have pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the season, defeating Westside Wolves 2-0. The Panthers put up a strong showing to end the Wolves' long-standing undefeated streak.

Hale 2 def. Whitford 0
Hale have continued building on their strong form, defeating Whitford 2-0 at Hale Hockey Club on Saturday 26 July. While the contest was fairly even throughout the match, the second quarter was where Hale shined, with Liné Malan and Elyssa Melville scoring field goals.

UWA 4 def. Reds 2
UWA have bounced back from a slump in form by holding off a determined Reds outfit 4-2 at Aquinas College. UWA led from the front with Lexie Pickering scoring a hat-trick, while Abby Davies and Lucy Sharman scored for Reds.

YMCC 4 def. WASPS 2
Jade Smith and Pippa Bairstow combined to help YMCC pull off their third win in a row, defeating WASPS 4-2 at Perth Hockey Stadium. Smith and Bairstow starred up forward, scoring two goals each in the exciting encounter.


Premier Division 2

In the Men's competition, Melville and Fremantle Cockburn could not break the deadlock - playing out in a 0-0 draw, Westside Wolves pulled off a dominant 6-0 victory over Victoria Park, Hudson MacNeill scored a hat-trick in Hale's 6-0 win over Whitford, Curtin University defeated Rockingham Redbacks 3-1, WASPS and YMCC played out a 4-4 draw, and UWA held off Reds 3-0.

In the Women's competition, North Coast Raiders pipped Melville 1-0, Victoria Park edged out Westside Wolves 2-1 in a come-from-behind victory, Suburban Lions narrowly defeated Hale 2-1, and UWA defeated Reds 4-1.
