Stiles Electrical Premier League Round 16 wrap

Round sixteen of the 2025 Stiles Electrical Premier League delivered a thrilling mix of dominant victories and nail-biting results, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.


Men's

Whitford 3 def. WASPS 2
Whitfords' resurgence in form continued under the Friday night lights at Troy Pickard Hockey Centre, with the home side pipping WASPS 3-2. Although WASPS were first to score with a penalty corner via Brandon Gibbs, Whitford fought back with a penalty corner via Fraser Heigh in the second quarter, followed by a field goal via Jamie Lyall in the third. Heigh would score a second goal via penalty stroke in the fourth quarter to extend Whitford's lead. Although Shaun Shackley would bring the margin back to a single goal to help the WASPS, Whitford held on to win 3-2.

Westside Wolves 2 def. North Coast Raiders 1
Westside Wolves have continued to build momentum, securing a 2-1 win over North Coast Raiders at Lemnos Field. Wolves would take charge during the first half, building up a lead with goals via Matthew Edgar (12') and James Cunningham (27'). Although North Coast Raiders would score late via Kyle Sorensen in the 56th minute, the Wolves held strong to secure the win.

Fremantle Cockburn 7 def. Mods-OGM 0
Fremantle Cockburn celebrated a huge player milestone in style, securing an emphatic 7-0 victory over Mods-OGM to maintain top spot on the ladder. Rhys Angwin played out his 400th Premier League match and scored two goals in the Magpies' dominant effort, while Ehren Hazell also scored multiple goals. Despite Mods-OGM's efforts, the Magpies were quick to take control and run away with the match.

Hale 3 def. Reds 2
Hale held off a determined Reds outfit to secure a 3-2 win at Hale Hockey Club. The first quarter saw a lot of end-to-end action with Sam Ashton scoring a goal for Hale in the first minute, only for Brodee Foster to respond with two quick goals of his own. Hale would take back the lead late in the first term with a penalty corner via Brayden King and a penalty stroke via Liam Flynn. The remainder of the match turned into a tug of war with neither side scoring, resulting in Hale holding on to win.

Victoria Park 5 def. YMCC 1
Victoria Park have jumped to second place on the ladder after pulling off a dominant 5-1 win over YMCC. The Panthers were quick to take control of the contest, establishing a 2-0 lead during the first half. Although YMCC would attempt to stage a comeback with a goal early in the third quarter, Victoria Park amped up the pressure to keep YMCC quiet and scored a further three goals to secure the win.

UWA 6 def. Melville 5
The round's action finished with a thrilling contest between UWA and Melville, with UWA holding off a late comeback attempt by Melville to win 6-5. While UWA were quick to score via Flynn Ogilvie in the early stages, Melville responded to take the lead 2-1 by quarter time. UWA would score a further two goals to take back the lead by half time. The third quarter saw plenty of excitement with UWA extending their lead with three more goals, while Melville worked to reduce the deficit. Two further goals in the fourth quarter saw Melville bring the margin down to a single goal but UWA would hold on to win.


Women's

Westside Wolves 10 def. North Coast Raiders 2
Westside Wolves have continued building on their dominant form, defeating North Coast Raiders 10-2 at Lemnos Field. From the outset, Wolves took control of the contest and ran away with it, with eight of their players scoring a goal. Despite being overwhelmed by the Wolves, the Raiders prevented themselves being on the receiving end of a clean sheet with Hattie Shand scoring two goals.

WASPS 3 def. WASPS 0
WASPS have continued building form, this time securing a 3-0 win over Whitford at Troy Pickard Hockey Centre. The first quarter saw WASPS build an early lead with goals via Kaho Miyata and Rina Hughes, followed by a further goal via Morgan Mathison in the second quarter. Although Whitford mounted the pressure throughout the second half, WASPS held on to win and earn a clean sheet victory.

Hale 6 def. Reds 0
A hat-trick via Claire Colwill helped Hale secure a dominant 6-0 victory over Reds at Hale Hockey Club. Two early goals via the Hockeyroo gave Hale the head-start needed to take control of the contest. Despite Reds' efforts to chase them down, Hale continued leading the charge with further goals via Michaela Spano, Tyler Pedley and Sarah Byrnes, with Colwill's third goal sealing the deal.

UWA 8 def. Melville 2
UWA have bounced back from their Round 15 loss to WASPS in a big way, putting up a dominant effort against Melville. The homeside were quick to take control of the contest from the outset with Neasa Flynn scoring four goals throughout the match, as well as two goals via Bellé Ramshaw, and further goals from Torva Sharwood and Courtney Schonell. Despite Melville's best efforts, which included goals via Yuu Asai and Maddi Smith, UWA held strong to claim victory.


Premier Division 2

In the Women's competition, Westside Wolves defeated Curtin University 3-1, Fremantle Cockburn held off Victoria Park 5-3 in an exciting contest, Hale and Reds found themselves caught in a 1-1 deadlock, UWA put up a dominant effort against Melville winning 7-1, and Suburban Lions defeated North Coast Raiders 3-0.

In the Men's competition, Whitford and WASPS played out a 1-1 draw, Fremantle Cockburn and Rockingham Redbacks could not be separated in a 1-1 draw, Hale defeated Reds 2-0, a hat-trick by Ryan Armstrong-Boase helped Westside Wolves hold off Curtin University 5-2, YMCC and Victoria Park drew level 4-4 in an exciting match, and UWA held off Melville 1-0.
