Stiles Electrical Premier League Round 9 wrap

As we approach the halfway point of the Stiles Electrical Premier League, statement wins and tight contests headlined the past weekend of hockey action.
Women's
The Reds delivered a statement performance in Round 9 of the Stiles Electrical Premier League, powering past the North Coast Raiders with a commanding 5-0 win at Troy Pickard Hockey Centre on Saturday, 14 June.
The opening quarter was a tight contest, with both teams battling for early control but unable to break through.
That changed in the second quarter when Sienna Robinson broke the deadlock with a sharp field goal. Just before halftime, Britt Wang added another to give the Reds a 2-0 cushion.
The Raiders came out with renewed energy after the break, holding off several penalty corner attempts. But the Reds kept their composure—Bella Connelly and Wang struck again in the third to stretch the lead to 4-0.
In the final quarter, Sophie Nation put the finishing touch on a polished team effort, converting a penalty corner to seal the 5-0 win.
Elsewhere around the grounds, WASPS and Hale could not be separated in a 1-1 draw, UWA held off YMCC 2-0, Lilly Mann fired in a hat-trick to keep Westside Wolves unbeaten with a 3-1 win over Melville, and Suburban Lions impressed with a 5-1 win over Victoria Park.
Men's
Zach Rakkas was unstoppable on Saturday, netting a sensational five-goal haul to lead the Reds to a commanding 8-1 victory over North Coast Raiders at Troy Pickard Hockey Centre in Round 9 of the 2025 Stiles Electrical Premier League.
It took just two minutes for the Reds to make their mark—Adrian Lockley opened the scoring with a slick field goal before Rakkas struck from a penalty corner to double the lead. The Raiders briefly hit back through Sebastian Mucci, but the Reds held firm to lead 2-1 in a thrilling first quarter.
From there, it was all Reds. The second quarter saw them shift into top gear, dominating possession and slicing through the Raiders' defense. Rakkas and Huw Wiltshire added three more field goals to take a commanding 5-1 lead into halftime.
The Raiders showed some fight after the break, tightening up defensively and pressing higher—but it wasn’t enough. Rakkas added his fourth before the final change, and then capped off his five-star performance in the last quarter. Rourke Palmer sealed the deal with a late goal to complete the 8-1 victory.
Elsewhere around the grounds, WASPS stunned Hale 4-2, a last-minute goal via Harry Golding helped UWA seal the deal over YMCC 4-2, Melville held off a fast-finishing Westside Wolves 5-3, Fremantle Cockburn outclassed Whitford 4-2, and in a goal-fest, Victoria Park overwhelmed Mods-OGM 11-4.
Premier Division 2
Round 8
In the Women's competition, Hale edged out Fremantle Cockburn 1-0, Suburban Lions and Victoria Park played out in a 1-1 draw, Melville held off Reds 1-0, UWA narrowly defeated Westside Wolves 1-0, Curtin University, and North Coast Raiders could not be separated in a 2-2 draw.
In the Men's competition, Westside Wolves edged out UWA 3-2, Victoria Park defeated Whitford 2-0, Reds held off YMCC 2-1, WASPS defeated Melville 3-1, a hat-trick from Brendan Payne helped Curtin University edge out Fremantle Cockburn 4-3, and Hale defeated Rockingham 3-0.
Round 9
In the Women's competition, UWA defeated Victoria Park 2-0, an Emma Bickley hat-trick helped Hale defeat North Coast Raiders 4-1, Fremantle Cockburn defeated Suburban Lions 3-0, Reds held off Curtin University 3-1, and Westside Wolves defeated Melville 2-0.
In the Men's competition, Hale defeated WASPS 2-0, YMCC held off UWA 3-2, Jordan Connelly sealed the deal in Reds' 1-0 win over Curtin University, Westside Wolves and Melville played out in a 2-2 draw, Victoria Park defeated Rockingham 4-2, and Whitford and Fremantle Cockburn could not be separated in a 2-2 draw.
