Elimination Final: UWA defeated by Melville 1-7
Melville delivered a dominant performance to book their place in the TeamStar Premier League Men's Semi Finals, defeating reigning premiers UWA 7-1 at Perth Hockey Stadium on Saturday, 5 September. Following a delayed start caused by the preceding Women's Elimination Final between UWA and Victoria Park extending to shootouts, the Men’s Qualifying Final began at a fierce pace. The opening quarter was tightly contested as both sides battled for early control, but it was Melville who found the breakthrough when Jake Staines scored from open play. UWA searched for an immediate response, however Melville's defence stood strong to maintain a 1-0 lead at the first break. Melville began to assert their authority in the second quarter, with James Day converting back-to-back penalty corners to extend the margin. Jacob Anderson then added a field goal as the reigning premiers struggled to contain Melville's attacking pressure. With momentum firmly on their side, Melville continued to press after half-time. Anderson registered his second goal of the contest from a penalty corner before Jesse Absolom struck from open play just before the final break, giving Melville a commanding advantage heading into the last quarter. The goals continued to flow in the final term as Ben Staines found the back of the net from open play to further strengthen Melville's position. UWA were eventually rewarded for their efforts when Chris Bausor converted a penalty corner to get his side on the scoreboard, but the goal proved little more than a consolation. Melville's comprehensive 7-1 victory secured their progression to the Semi Finals and underlined their premiership credentials, while UWA's title defence came to an end at the hands of an impressive and clinical Melville outfit.

Hale survived a fierce challenge from Fremantle Cockburn to secure their place in the TeamStar Premier League Men's Semi Finals, prevailing in a dramatic shootout after an entertaining Elimination Final at Perth Hockey Stadium on Saturday, 5 September. Both sides started the contest at a high tempo, trading possession and creating opportunities in an open and attacking opening quarter. Hale struck first through Marcus Jorgensen, who found the back of the net from open play, but the Magpies responded quickly. Ehren Hazell converted a penalty corner to draw Fremantle Cockburn level, ensuring the scores were locked at 1-1 by the first break. The intensity continued into the second quarter as the teams went end-to-end in search of an advantage. Despite several promising attacking passages and strong defensive efforts at both ends of the field, neither side was able to break the deadlock, with the scores remaining unchanged at half-time. Fremantle Cockburn emerged from the main break with renewed energy and soon took the lead when Hazell converted a penalty stroke. YMCC wasted little time making their mark on the contest, earning early penalty corner opportunities and capitalising through Cooper Burns, who found the back of the net on the second attempt. The Wolves looked to respond after the early setback, but YMCC's defence remained organised and resolute to carry a 1-0 advantage into quarter time. The second quarter developed into an evenly contested battle, with both sides producing periods of strong possession and creating attacking opportunities in an entertaining end-to-end contest. YMCC eventually extended their lead late in the term when Daykin Stanger scored from open play, providing his side with some breathing room. The Wolves responded quickly to stay within touch, with Arjun Brian scoring a field goal to reduce the deficit before half-time. UWA kept their premiership hopes alive in a thrilling TeamStar Premier League Elimination Final, defeating Victoria Park in a dramatic shootout after the sides could not be separated at Perth Hockey Stadium on Saturday, 5 September. The opening quarter was an entertaining, end-to-end affair, with both teams enjoying periods of possession and searching for an early breakthrough. Despite some lively attacking play at either end, neither side was able to find the back of the net before the first break. Victoria Park broke the deadlock in the second quarter when Beatriz Monger-Molowny converted a penalty corner to give the Panthers the lead. UWA looked to respond immediately but were unable to capitalise on a penalty corner opportunity. Their persistence was rewarded shortly before half-time, however, when Shayni Nelson confidently converted a penalty stroke to send the teams into the main break locked at 1-1. The contest remained finely balanced after half-time, with both sides earning multiple penalty corners as the intensity lifted. UWA capitalised on their opportunities, with Ivy Natta finding the net from open play to edge her side in front and give them a narrow advantage heading into the final quarter. Victoria Park responded strongly in the final term. Lauren Yee levelled the scores with a field goal before Georgia Wilson converted a penalty stroke to put the Panthers ahead. With time running out, the match appeared destined to swing Victoria Park's way. Instead, the closing moments delivered plenty of drama. A late penalty corner resulted in a flurry of green cards before UWA were awarded a penalty stroke with just seconds remaining. Bellé Ramshaw held her nerve under pressure, converting with only five seconds left on the clock to tie the scores at 3-3 and force the match into extra time. Two five-minute periods of golden goal extra time followed, but despite several tense moments, neither side could find the decisive breakthrough, sending the contest to a shootout. Victoria Park struck first through Marieke van der Vis, but the shootout soon became a goalkeeping showcase as UWA's Lou-Ellen Edwards and Victoria Park's Kate Lockley produced a series of crucial saves.
