Westside Wolves defeated YMCC 3-1
It was a tale of two halves in a thrilling contest, with Westside Wolves upsetting table-toppers YMCC by two goals at Lemnos Field on Saturday, 27 June. The opening half was tightly contested, with both sides eager to strike early. End-to-end play created opportunities, but strong defensive pressure on both sides kept the scoreboard locked. The breakthrough finally came in the third quarter, when Tom Harvie converted a penalty corner to put the Wolves in front. Minutes later, Pat Andrew added a field goal to extend the lead. Reds staged an impressive comeback to defeat a fast-starting WASPS outfit in an exciting contest at Aquinas College on Sunday, 28 June. WASPS came out firing in the opening quarter, taking an early lead through a penalty corner conversion from Shaun Shackley just four minutes after the first pushback. Reds responded with a field goal from Blake Govers, but WASPS quickly hit back. Charlie McIntyre found the back of the net, before Shackley added his second from a penalty corner to give WASPS a two-goal buffer at quarter time. The second quarter tightened, with Reds lifting their defensive intensity. While WASPS created several penalty corner opportunities, Reds held firm to keep the margin unchanged heading into half time. Reds turned the momentum in the third quarter, mounting a strong comeback. Remington Scott converted a penalty corner, before Govers scored his second field goal to bring the scores level heading into the final break. The final term was a tense, back-and-forth affair, but it was Reds who found the decisive moment. Brodee Foster converted from a penalty corner to put his side in front, with Reds holding on to secure a thrilling come-from-behind victory in front of their home crowd.

Suburban Lions have maintained their impressive run of form, claiming a midweek victory over WASPS in their rescheduled Round 9 clash at Lemnos Field on Tuesday, 23 June. The match opened with a lively first quarter, as both sides exchanged attacking opportunities. It was the visitors who struck first, with Kaho Tanaka converting a field goal late in the term to give WASPS the early lead heading into the break. The Lions responded in the second quarter, drawing level through Angela Chilwell, who capitalised on a penalty corner.
