Round 12 delivered plenty of statement performances ahead of the mid-season break, with several contenders strengthening their ladder positions through dominant victories, while a handful of tightly contested matches highlighted the competitiveness across the Men's and Women's competitions.

YMCC defeated Whitford 3-1
YMCC will head into the mid-season break full of confidence after securing a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Whitford at Lemnos Field on Friday, 3 July. After an evenly contested opening period, YMCC broke the deadlock through a penalty corner conversion from Marshall Puzey. Whitford looked to respond, but YMCC's defence remained resolute to take a 1-0 lead into the first break. The second quarter saw YMCC continue to apply pressure in search of a second goal, but Whitford found a way back into the contest. Conor Walsh successfully converted a penalty stroke to level the scores before half-time. YMCC regained the advantage in the third quarter after earning several penalty corner opportunities. Padraig Munt capitalised with a field goal to restore the lead, giving YMCC a 2-1 edge heading into the final break. Whitford continued to press in the fourth quarter, searching for another equaliser, but YMCC put the result beyond doubt when Hamish Adamson found the back of the net with a field goal. The late strike sealed a deserved 3-1 win and ensured YMCC entered the mid-season break with valuable momentum.

Westside Wolves defeated by Melville 1-5
Melville continued to build confidence with an impressive 5-1 upset victory over Westside Wolves at Lemnos Field on Saturday, 4 July. The visiting side made a blistering start, racing to a three-goal lead in the opening quarter. Ben Staines led the charge with two field goals, while Jacob Anderson also found the back of the net to give Melville early control of the contest. Westside Wolves looked to respond in the second quarter, but Melville's defence stood strong and denied the visitors any clear opportunities. Melville then extended their advantage before half-time when James Day converted a penalty corner, sending his side into the main break with a commanding 4-0 lead. Melville carried that momentum into the third quarter, adding another goal through Anderson, who claimed his second field goal of the match to push the margin out to five goals. The Wolves eventually broke through in the final quarter, with Aaron Kleinschmidt scoring a field goal to get his side on the scoreboard. However, the goal proved little more than a consolation as Melville remained composed for the remainder of the match to secure the 5-1 victory.

Reds defeated by Hale 2-5
Hale will head into the mid-season break sitting second on the ladder after a convincing 5-2 victory over Reds at Aquinas College on Saturday, 4 July. The visitors made a flying start, opening the scoring just four minutes into the match when Charlie Johnston found the back of the net with a field goal. Hale quickly doubled their advantage through Ian Grobbelaar, who converted from a penalty corner to give his side early control of the contest. Hale continued to dictate play throughout the second quarter, combining clinical finishing with strong defensive pressure to keep Reds on the back foot. Liam Flynn added to the scoreboard with a penalty corner conversion before Grobbelaar grabbed his second goal of the match, also from a penalty corner, helping Hale establish a commanding 4-0 lead at half-time. Reds responded strongly after the break, with Blake Govers leading the fightback. The prolific scorer converted two penalty corners during the third quarter to reduce the deficit and give the home side renewed belief heading into the final term. The final quarter proved to be a tightly contested affair, with both teams creating opportunities. However, Hale had the last say when Liam Flynn scored a late field goal to seal the result and cap off an impressive 5-2 victory.

UWA defeated North Coast Raiders 6-1
UWA's dominant first-half performance paved the way for a commanding 6-1 victory over North Coast Raiders at UWA Superturf on Saturday, 4 July. After an evenly contested opening period, UWA seized control in the first quarter. Tom Wickham opened the scoring from a penalty corner before Frank Main added a field goal soon after, giving the home side a 2-0 advantage at the first break. UWA continued to dictate terms throughout the second quarter, combining strong defensive pressure with clinical finishing. Lachlan Busiko and Coby Green both converted penalty corners, while Diego Alonso Fouz added a field goal as UWA surged to a commanding 5-0 lead by half-time. The Raiders looked to mount a response after the break, but UWA maintained their intensity and extended the margin further in the third quarter when Tom Rowe found the back of the net with a field goal. With the result largely decided, both sides enjoyed periods of possession during the final quarter. North Coast Raiders were eventually rewarded for their persistence when Tijn Arends converted a late penalty corner, denying UWA a clean sheet. However, it proved to be little more than a consolation as UWA comfortably closed out a comprehensive 6-1 victory heading into the mid-season break.

WASPS defeated Mods-OGM 2-1
WASPS came away with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Mods-OGM in a closely contested encounter at Perth Hockey Stadium on Sunday, 5 July. The match got off to a flying start, with Mods-OGM opening the scoring through Judd Diletti, who found the back of the net with a field goal early in the first quarter. WASPS responded almost immediately, with Brandon Gibbs converting a penalty corner to level the scores before the first break. The intensity remained high throughout the second quarter as both sides enjoyed periods of possession, but strong defensive efforts at either end ensured neither team could gain the upper hand heading into half-time. The deadlock remained intact until late in the third quarter when Lachlan Sampson produced the decisive moment of the match, scoring a field goal to give WASPS their first lead of the contest. Mods-OGM continued to press for an equaliser during a tense final quarter, but WASPS remained resolute in defence and successfully protected their advantage to secure a valuable 2-1 victory.

Fremantle Cockburn will head into the mid-season break with plenty of confidence after recording a commanding 6-1 victory over Victoria Park at Lakelands Hockey & Sporting Facility on Sunday, 5 July. The Magpies made a flying start, taking control of the contest early through Simon Naughtin, who scored two quick field goals within minutes of each other. Lachlan Rogers then added another field goal to cap a dominant opening quarter and hand Fremantle Cockburn a strong advantage. Victoria Park responded early in the second term when Ben Taylor converted a penalty corner to reduce the deficit and briefly lift the Panthers' hopes. However, Fremantle Cockburn quickly reasserted their authority, with Tim Deavin converting from a penalty corner to restore the three-goal margin and give the Magpies a commanding 4-1 lead at half-time. The third quarter proved to be a much tighter affair, with both sides enjoying periods of possession and working hard to create scoring opportunities. Despite the improved contest, neither team was able to add to the scoreboard during the term. Fremantle Cockburn finished strongly in the final quarter to put the result beyond doubt. Ehren Hazell converted a penalty stroke before Deavin added his second goal of the match from a penalty corner, sealing an emphatic 6-1 victory and ensuring the Magpies carry strong momentum into the mid-season break.

YMCC defeated Whitford 2-1
YMCC held off a determined Whitford outfit to claim a hard-fought 2-1 victory at Lemnos Field on Friday, 3 July. The opening quarter was an evenly contested affair, with both sides enjoying periods of possession and creating opportunities, but neither could find a breakthrough as the scores remained locked at 0-0 at the first break. The deadlock was finally broken in the second quarter when Jessie Stewart converted a penalty corner to give YMCC the lead. Whitford searched for an immediate response, but YMCC's defence stood firm to preserve their advantage heading into half-time. YMCC extended their lead early in the third quarter through Amelie Green, who found the back of the net with a field goal to put her side in a strong position. Whitford responded soon after, with Penny Squibb converting a penalty corner to reduce the deficit back to a single goal before the final break. The contest tightened considerably in the final quarter as Whitford pressed hard for an equaliser. However, YMCC remained composed under pressure and produced a strong defensive effort to protect their lead, securing a valuable 2-1 victory.

Westside Wolves will head into the mid-season break full of confidence after securing a convincing 4-0 victory over Melville at Lemnos Field on Saturday, 4 July. The opening quarter was an evenly contested affair, with both sides enjoying periods of possession and creating opportunities. Despite the end-to-end nature of the contest, neither team was able to find a breakthrough in the early stages. The Wolves began to assert their authority in the second quarter, breaking the deadlock through Madi Ratcliffe, who scored a field goal to put her side in front. Ratcliffe then doubled the advantage before half-time, converting a penalty corner to give Westside Wolves a 2-0 lead at the main break. Melville searched for a way back into the contest after half-time, but the Wolves continued to control proceedings. Jemma Buckley extended the lead in the third quarter, converting a penalty corner to put Westside Wolves firmly in command heading into the final term. The contest tightened once again in the fourth quarter, with Melville continuing to battle hard. However, Ratcliffe put the result beyond doubt late in the match, completing her hat-trick with a field goal to seal a comprehensive 4-0 victory and ensure the Wolves carry plenty of momentum into the mid-season break.

UWA defeated North Coast Raiders 6-0
UWA delivered a dominant performance to record a comprehensive 6-0 victory over North Coast Raiders at UWA Superturf on Saturday, 4 July. The opening quarter was evenly contested, with both sides enjoying periods of possession and creating opportunities. Despite the competitive start, neither team was able to find the breakthrough as the scores remained level at the first break. UWA took control of the contest in the second quarter and never looked back. Alexandra Enslin opened the scoring with a penalty corner conversion before Mei Hill-Wilson and Ivy Natta each added field goals, giving the home side a commanding 3-0 lead by half-time. The momentum continued after the main break, with Jessica Butterworth extending the advantage in the third quarter through a field goal. North Coast Raiders looked to build some attacking pressure of their own, but UWA's defence remained solid to maintain a four-goal buffer heading into the final term. UWA capped off an impressive afternoon in the fourth quarter, controlling possession and dictating the tempo of the game. Prada Herron added the finishing touches with two field goals, sealing a convincing 6-0 victory.

Suburban Lions will head into the mid-season break sitting atop the ladder after a commanding 7-1 victory over WASPS at Perth Hockey Stadium on Sunday, 5 July. Following an evenly contested opening period, the Lions were the first to strike. Courtney Schonell opened the scoring with a field goal before Georgina Dowd added another, giving Suburban Lions a strong 2-0 advantage by quarter-time. WASPS looked to respond in the second quarter, but the Lions continued to assert their dominance. Andreina Colonna and Carly Williamson both converted penalty corners, doubling the margin and helping Suburban Lions establish a commanding 4-0 lead heading into half-time. The Lions carried their momentum into the third quarter, with Maria Guastavino adding a field goal to extend the lead further. WASPS responded with a more determined effort as the contest tightened, but Suburban Lions remained firmly in control. WASPS eventually found a breakthrough early in the final quarter when Rina Hughes converted a penalty corner. However, any hopes of a comeback were quickly extinguished as the ladder leaders finished strongly. Schonell and Dowd both added penalty corner goals to their earlier field goal tallies, capping off an impressive team performance and sealing a comprehensive 7-1 victory.

After an evenly contested start, Victoria Park struck first seven minutes into the match when Lauren Yee found the back of the net with a field goal. The Panthers continued to apply pressure as Fremantle Cockburn searched for a response, but the visitors were unable to break through during the opening quarter. Victoria Park extended their advantage in the second term through Rachel Frusher, who converted a penalty corner to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead heading into the half-time break. The Magpies emerged after the interval with renewed intent and began to turn the momentum in their favour. Jenna-Rae McIntyre sparked the comeback with a field goal in the third quarter before Eunyoung Kim converted a penalty corner to level the scores and set up a thrilling finish. With the match finely poised entering the final quarter, both sides pushed hard for a winning goal. Strong defensive efforts and disciplined goalkeeping at either end ensured neither team could find the decisive breakthrough, with the scores remaining locked at 2-2 at full-time.
