The game had originally been postponed due to limited player availability, with several athletes away competing at the 2026 Hockey Australia Under 18 National Championships in Darwin earlier this month. Hale made a strong start, taking the lead just four minutes into the contest through a field goal from Tyler Pedley. Reds pushed to respond, but Hale's defence held firm to maintain their advantage at quarter time. The visitors continued to build momentum in the second quarter, creating multiple penalty corner opportunities.
