A weekend of tightly contested hockey and emphatic statements saw milestone moments, standout individual performances and several sides reinforce their credentials as genuine contenders as Round Two matches unfolded across Perth.

WASPS def by Fremantle Cockburn 2-4
Fremantle Cockburn rebounded strongly from recent defeats, securing a hard‑fought two‑goal victory over WASPS at Perth Hockey Stadium on Saturday 18 April. WASPS opened the scoring through a field goal to Jack Kruger and controlled much of the contest early. A tight second quarter saw both sides trade possession with no further goals, allowing WASPS to take a 1–0 lead into half time. The match lifted in intensity after the break, with Callum Brown‑Lea extending WASPS’ advantage with a field goal early in the third quarter. Fremantle Cockburn responded emphatically, as Ehren Hazell struck twice in quick succession to level the scores. Momentum swung further the Magpies’ way late in the term when Jazze Henry converted a field goal to put Fremantle Cockburn in front. The final quarter was again fiercely contested, but Fremantle Cockburn sealed the result when Diarmid Chappell added a field goal, ensuring the Magpies held on for the win.

YMCC marked a club stalwart’s milestone in emphatic fashion, claiming a five‑goal victory over Victoria Park at Lemnos Field on Saturday 18 April. Player‑coach Tyler Lovell celebrated his 400th game as YMCC made a strong start, opening the scoring early through a field goal from Liam Henderson. Victoria Park looked to respond during a competitive second quarter, but it was YMCC who struck again just before the break, with Cooper Burns converting a field goal to extend the home side’s lead at half time. Burns continued his strong performance after the interval, adding his second of the match by successfully converting a penalty corner in the third quarter. YMCC maintained control as the match progressed, with Hamish Adamson and Max Freedman both finding the back of the net from field goals to push the margin further out. Victoria Park broke through late in the term, with Harley Muir scoring from a penalty corner. However, any hopes of a comeback were dashed in the final quarter as Burns completed his hat‑trick, sealing a memorable milestone win for YMCC.

UWA continued their dominant run with a three‑goal victory over Whitford at UWA Superturf on Saturday 18 April, in a match that also marked a significant milestone for Harry Golding, who played his 200th game for the club. The hosts made an ideal start, with Nathan Ephraums striking twice in the opening quarter — first converting a penalty stroke in the fourth minute before adding a field goal in the 12th. Whitford responded in the second quarter through Luke Milne, whose field goal cut the margin to one and kept the contest alive heading into half time. The third quarter proved a more measured affair, with both sides trading possession, though UWA restored their two‑goal buffer when Nathan Czinner found the back of the net with a field goal. The second quarter saw a more even contest as the Raiders looked to respond, but the Wolves’ defence held strong to maintain a 2–0 lead at half time. Westside took full control after the break, piling on three goals in the third quarter through Dane Gavranich, Rintala and Matthew Edgar to put the result beyond doubt. The hosts took full control after the break, producing a decisive third quarter that yielded four goals through Brodee Foster, Andrew Faulds, Govers and Jeremy Hayward to open up a commanding 5–0 advantage by the final change.
