After a spirited opening exchange, YMCC capitalised on a penalty corner opportunity, with Cooper Burns converting to give his side the lead. Melville searched for an immediate response, but YMCC's defence stood strong to take a 1-0 advantage into the first break. The second quarter developed into a hard-fought battle, with both sides sharing possession in an entertaining end-to-end contest. Hale searched for an immediate response, but the Wolves' defence stood strong to carry a 1-0 lead into quarter time. Despite a delayed start caused by the preceding Men's Semi Final between Westside Wolves and Hale extending to a shootout, both sides wasted no time settling into the contest. The opening quarter was played at a frenetic pace, with possession swinging from end to end as both teams searched for an early breakthrough. While the Lions earned several penalty corner opportunities, UWA's defence remained resolute to keep the scores level at the first break. UWA threatened to open the scoring early in the second quarter after earning a penalty corner, but the Lions stood firm defensively. The deadlock was eventually broken by Georgina Dowd, who found the back of the net with a field goal to give the Lions the advantage. UWA responded immediately, with Bellé Ramshaw converting a penalty corner to level the scores. Both sides continued to battle fiercely for control, but neither could add another goal before half-time. Just as it appeared the deadlock would remain intact at the first break, Elyssa Melville found the breakthrough with a field goal to hand Hale a crucial 1-0 lead. The Wolves searched for a response during the second quarter, but Hale continued to control the contest. Liné Malan extended the advantage from a penalty corner, giving Hale a two-goal buffer heading into half-time.
