The 2022 Ric Charlesworth Classic is coming!

The 2022 Ric Charlesworth Classic, presented by Brightside Live, is coming and, based on the first two iterations of the competition, the third instalment is going to capture the attention, interest and excitement of the hockey community across the state and further afield.
The Ric Charlesworth Classic, Hockey WA’s blue-ribbon competition for men and women ahead of the Premier League season, pits some of Western Australia’s finest against each other in the quest for glory… and positions in our open-age state representative teams, the Perth Thundersticks.
This year’s competition – live-streamed in full by TheWest.com.au – is going to be a cracker, with fixtures played across an eight-day period from Saturday 26 March to Saturday 2 April at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University.
The Breakers, Outbacks, Suns and Highlanders will once again go head-to-head in the battle for gold. In past editions, some of the state’s finest players including the likes of Tim Geers and Line Malan have taken to the field alongside some of our brightest young players. Players interested in participating are invited to express their interest via the registration portal here:

Spectators too can expect a brilliant game-day experience, with a music DJ, MC, entertainment and more set to provide some colour and excitement to complement the on-field action.
“We’re incredibly excited about the 2022 Ric Charlesworth Classic and look forward to a great tournament,” Hockey WA’s General Manager Performance and Development, Dean Evans, says.
“Players with higher-level aspirations are strongly encouraged to register for the competition, with it being a genuine selection trial for the Perth Thundersticks ahead of the 2022 Sultana Bran Hockey One League season.
“We look forward to seeing huge turnouts for the competition and having the entire WA hockey community help launch our 2022 season in style through this vital tournament.”
