Under-18s Girls Teams announced for 2022

With the upcoming Under-18s National Championships in Cairns QLD, to be held from 6-14 April, the WA Under-18 Girls State teams have been finalised ahead of their trip to compete in the eight-day festival of hockey.

The WA Girls sides will look to go one better than their narrow 2-1 defeat in the bronze medal match last year and bring home a medal-placing with gold in sight.

Hockey WA General Manager Performance and Development, Dean Evans, says WA having two sides is exciting for the sport in Western Australia.

“This year we will be sending two Under-18s sides for each gender, which is promising for our chances and the development of our elite-level junior athletes,” Evans says.

“The girls narrowly missed out on bronze last year, so it will be exciting to see how they perform this year, especially with the talent we’re taking over.”

The training session for the two girls teams at Perth Hockey Stadium at Curtin University this weekend is:

Sunday 20 February 2022 from 10am-12pm

The rest of the preparation program will be communicated direct with the players.
