Yugo Joins the Hockey WA Team

Published Wed 20 May 2026

Hockey WA has announced a new partnership with global student housing operator Yugo, aimed at supporting student wellbeing, community connection and participation in sport across Western Australia.

The partnership coincides with Yugo’s continued expansion in Perth, including the upcoming opening of Yugo Perth University Campus in Waterford, located near Curtin University and Perth Hockey Stadium.

With Yugo Perth University Campus set to open in July 2026, the partnership reflects a shared focus on student wellbeing, community connection and active lifestyles.

“With Yugo Perth University Campus opening moments from Perth Hockey Stadium in July 2026, this partnership reflects our focus on student lifestyle and wellbeing,” said Tim Klitscher, Yugo Senior Vice President of Operations for APAC & UAE.

“Hockey WA connects young people through local and international competition, and we’re proud to support an organisation that creates those pathways and broadens horizons for youth in Western Australia.”

Yugo Perth University Campus Residence Manager, David Manjali, said working closely with Hockey WA would help create inclusive environments that support students as they transition into university life.

“Sport is a powerful way for students to feel settled, connected and confident, particularly when they’re living away from home for the first time,” he said.

“Through this partnership, we’ll help students living at Yugo stay active, meet new people and engage with sport as part of their everyday routine, not just on game day.

“By working closely with Hockey WA, we’ll create inclusive environments that help students build friendships, healthy routines and a genuine sense of belonging from the moment they move in.”

Hockey WA chief executive officer Graham Reid welcomed Yugo to the hockey community and highlighted the importance of partnerships that support young people both on and off the field.

“This partnership with Yugo is an exciting opportunity to support students at a pivotal stage of their lives,” he said.

“Hockey has always played a significant role in bringing people together, and having a partner that prioritises wellbeing, connection and community aligns perfectly with Hockey WA’s values.

“We’re pleased to be working alongside Yugo to create more opportunities for students to engage with hockey, stay active and feel part of a welcoming sporting community in Western Australia.”

Opening in Waterford in July 2026, Yugo Perth University Campus will deliver purpose-built student living close to the Curtin University campus, with thoughtfully designed study, recreation and wellness spaces.

The property will offer secure ensuites, co-living apartments and private studio options, supported by a year-round wellbeing and community events program that encourages connection and everyday university life.
