2025 KMSB Youth International Gryphon Cup nominations open - OMSB Outbacks

Hockey WA is thrilled to announce further nominations to represent our great state in one of the most anticipated youth hockey tournaments of the year are now open!

The KMSB Youth International Gryphon Cup will be returning to Perth this November, bringing together top-tier young talent from across Western Australia, Australia and beyond.

Nominations are open for regionally-based athletes to represent the Onslow Marine Support Base (OMSB) Outbacks, with one Boys and one Girls team to be selected.

In 2025, OMSB are coming on board as the team's major sponsor, supporting our young athletes from the vast regions of Western Australia.

Eligibility Information

Nominations are open to boys and girls based in regional WA strictly born after 1 January 2009.

Trial Schedule

Trials for those wanting to be considered to represent the OMSB Outbacks will be taking place at Perth Hockey Stadium at the following times:

• Trial 1: Saturday 4 October, 3.00pm to 6.00pm
  • Girls Trial @ PHS-1
  • Boys Trial @ PHS-2
    
• Trial 2: Sunday 5 October, 8.00am to 11.00am
  • Girls Trial @ PHS-1
  • Boys Trial @ PHS-2

Nominations close at 10.00am on Thursday 2 October.

Tournament Preparation

In preparation for the tournament, there will be six weekend trainings/games for selected athletes. Following the 2024 event, we wanted to provide better preparation opportunities for regional athletes who needed to create better connections as a team before the event commenced.

This will commence on the weekend of Saturday 11 October & Sunday 12 October in Perth.  A link will be sent to all selected athletes to take part in the critical preparation period prior to the tournament. This was something that was not previously offered until late in the preparation phase. 

The training will consist of the following:
- 3 x weekends of Training (Saturday and Sunday) 
- 3 x weekends of games (Saturday afternoon only) vs the three other WA-based teams. (Stars, Highlanders and Waves.)
